As work wraps up on Related‘s 500 West 30th Street, the company’s plans for another residential building on the same block have just been filed with the Department of Buildings; the latest permits indicate construction is about to begin at 520 West 30th Street. The new tower will be directly across The High Line from ‘Abington House,’ and the architect of record is Ismael Leyva.

Permits for 520 West 30th Street indicate that the tower will stand 28 stories and 354 feet tall, which should translate into relatively generous ceiling heights. The building will measure 207,334 square feet, with 11,725 square feet to be set aside for commercial use; the remainder of the development’s square footage will be divided between 174 residences.

While no formal renderings of 520 West 30th Street have been unveiled, the project does make a cameo in Related’s most recent set of images for the Hudson Yards; the building is nestled between The Ohm and 500 West 30th Street in the above picture, and the glimpse of the skyscraper’s architecture reveals a standard Leyva design, which includes a small glassy crown above the bulk of the tower.

No completion date for 520 West 30th Street has been announced, but given the surge in activity across 30th Street — as work on the Hudson Yards begins to accelerate — construction is likely imminent.

The building in the render is 539 W 29th. It looks like 539 W 29 is also the brick building with the black windows behind the undeveloped lots in your picture. I assume 530 W 30 is also part of Related's plan for 520 W 30.

Related Companies is building a 300,000-square-foot rental building at 532 West 30th Street, adjacent to Abington House on the High Line, Commercial Observer has learned.

The building at 532 West 30th Street will have 189 units when it comes to market in the fall of 2016, said Joanna Rose, a spokeswoman for Related.

Plans call for demolition of the 15,447-square-foot, seven-story structure, which was built in 1920, according to Department of Buildings and PropertyShark records.

Related bought the property for $9 million last September, property records indicate.

YIMBY has the reveal for Related’s new building coming to 520 West 30th Street, where Ismael Leyva is attached as the architect of record; the project makes an appearance in larger renderings for the Hudson Yards, sneaking into the background, but the new look matches recently-filed massing diagrams, as well as a previous glimpse.

Permits for the tower were recently revised, resubmitted, and granted partial approval, and with work on 500 West 30th Street now complete, Abington House’s companion may soon begin to rise. The building will stand 28 stories and 354 feet tall, and will have 174 apartments; the lot is shared with 529 West 29th Street, a recently-completed affordable building.

The tower’s architect is Ismael Leyva, and it will stand 28 stories tall, with 174 apartments.

The first DOB filings for the project arrived this past March, and indicate a total area of 207,334 square feet. 520 West 30th Street will be visually similar to the Abington at 500 West 30th Street, which sits across the High Line and was only recently completed.

520 West 30th Street departs from its Robert A.M. Stern-designed neighbor in subtle ways, though both buildings employ façades that are largely brick. Ismael Leyva’s addition will have two chief setbacks, and in between, a sliver of glass will bisect the brick elements.

The lot was formerly used as a staging site for 500 West 30th Street as well as an affordable building at 529 West 29th Street, but now that construction is complete at both of those developments, equipment is being removed from 520 West 30th Street and excavation would appear imminent.

^Nice little "timelapse" ILNY. This thing is going to have some excellent views of the HY complex. It will also add some variety when looking South from the complex, when up against all the blue glass. Good stuff, just wish it had a hotel component..
