The Fallacy of Comparing Vancouver to Copenhagen Etc.

This came up in another thread but was OT.

An annoying comparison comes up with Vancouver to other cities that completely ignores how wet Vancouver is compared to most major world cities, and how that influences plannign and transportation. For your edification:

Average Yearly Precipitation:

Vancouver: 1,117 mm
London: 601 mm
Copenhagen: 613 mm
Hamburg: 773 mm

As you can see Vancouver gets about twice the yearly precipitation of London and Copenhagen, and about 70% more than Hamburg!
