INCHEON | Crystal Top Tower | 448 M | 1,470 FT | 30 FL

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I just saw this on CNN and thought it newsworthy on this forum.

Coming soon: World's first 'invisible' tower

Quote: (CNN) -- For architecture buffs numbed by the ongoing global battle to crank out record-breaking tall buildings, here's something innovative to spark the imagination.

The South Korean government has granted approval to begin construction on the world's first "invisible" tower.

Interesting concept. It reminds a bit of the never-built 'Tour Sans Fins' in Paris.

Read "invisible tower" and later read "near airport". Can't be serious?

I saw this and couldn't believe it either.

And the above was my first thought as well. Not very smart for Air Traffic safety. However, I think the LED projections are only aimed at viewers near the ground. (At least according to one of the graphics.)

If anyone's ever played Mirrors Edge this looks like the Shard skyscraper at the end. Fascinating concept for modern day Seoul, was on FOX-5. Good height too. its like they took the diamond portions of WTC2 and make it one tower.

Does it say anywhere how much this invisibility trick is going to cost? Also, how weird is it that this is tower is primarily an amusement park of some kind? That's interesting.

There's already an invisible tower it's called 4 World Trade Center. And am I the only one that thinks that an invisible tower is a terrible idea. Safety wise.

What a great idea... spend hundreds of millions of dollars (or equivalent) on a building you can't see. Genius!

Safety concern...

I do not think that I would feel particularly safe in a building that could, possibly camouflage itself!

They want to make it invisible because they are embarrassed by how phalic this tower looks. The family jewels at the bottom look jewel like alright.

Updated timeline: LH targeting to sign contract in September and start construction in October

https://m.news1.kr/articles/?4760141

Quote:
Some updates regarding the project. There have been a few (more) delays, as developers and POSCO had yet to finalize and sign a deal, with quite a few delays along the way.

Now, a new timeline has been set forward. With the inflation of the costs, LH has decided to conduct some sort of review of the costs (through an outside auditor), and expects to conclude this review at the end of August. If this is in line with what they had in mind, the next step would then be to sign the contract with POSCO in September, on the basis on the basic agreement that they seem to have, and to start actual construction in October.

Construction would then take 58 months, and the tower is expected to be completed in July 2027.
