The Beckett [192 Bronson Ave] | 61m | 19 fl | Completed

Apologies if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it (using Bronson in the Title for my search). Feel free to merge this with existing thread, if there's one.

I recently attended an investment/real estate seminar and was advised Brad Lamb is going to have his 3rd project in Ottawa at corner of Bronson and Laurier (the other 2 projects are Gotham and SoBa).

I haven't been able to find a website for this but here are some tidbits from the flyer I picked up at the seminar

- Project is projected for 14 stories and will contain over 200 units with a mix of ground floor retail shops, condos, penthouses, and a stunning collection of 2-level townhouses framing the interior courtyard.

- Close to downtown, this project is located in a quiet neighbourhood with easy access to amenities, including shops, lush parks, and medical services

- This project is the 3rd collaboration in Ottawa between Lamb Development Corp (LDC) and Fortress Real Developments Inc (FRDI): Gotham is already under construction and SoBa breaks ground later this year.

We spoke about it on the General Update/Rumour thread, but I don't think we started its own thread so, thanks!

Here is the article, still no pics;

Exciting new project! If the info in the Ottawaconstructionews.com is correct, the thread should be renamed 196 Bronson (or Bronson / Nepean) etc...

Thanks for the info, I have done just that!

The realtor at the seminar alluded to the fact there may be a grocery store on the ground floor as there's no such thing in the immediate vicinity.

Wondering when Brad Lamb will come up here again to push this! Like he did for the SoBa project few weeks ago to drum up sales.

Got an email from Paul Rushforth Real Estate group for an investment seminar about this project.

Brad Lamb will be the guest speaker. This one is simply called the Bronson (kind of like the Slater with Marnie Bennett and Broccolini on Slater and Bank)

Another article surfaced on June 30th via Ottawa Construction News regarding this project:
http://ottawaconstructionnews.com/nation...illion-project-on-ocas-bronson-ave-site/

Some interesting things mentioned:

Quote:
Lamb said “we’re looking at three or four structures in one building.”

“There will be some form of podium on Bronson, and a setback to some form of higher tower, not 30 stories – but a 15, 16, 17 or 18-storey tower.”

He anticipates the site will include ground floor retail – hopefully a major food retailer, as food stores are scarce in the area.

“We want to design something special, that greatly improves this part of Ottawa,” Lamb said.
And this:

Quote:
[Lamb] said it may take a year or more for the project to be designed and approved, but this time-frame suits him as he believes the market will be ready for the condos once they go on the market, with sales commencing later in 2014.

The project is “aimed at the middle class, in the $200,000 to $500,000 range, with one bedrooms, two bedrooms and some townhouses.”

Yes, SoBa... that should have been built by now.

Cool site for this project, though. Just shy of the edge of the bluff over Lebreton Flats, close to the Transitway. Not many services near there, though.

To put it mildly.

Or just 196 Bronson...it's across the street and between the Nepean/Bronson and Gloucester/Bronson intersections but not at either.

As for the Grocery Store...how about another Whole Foods? Thousands of condo units going up within a ten minute walk...enormous amount of target demographic customers!

you'd have to think that a higher-end "urban market"-type grocery store would thrive here, there are literally thousands of condo dwellers already within only 2 blocks of this location.

The tower part adopts a lot of the SoBa design but at least they are a. not identical and b. not in the same area. Compared to everything else in the area, this thing is damn nice. 8/10

If they can get that grocery store, more power to them.

It's nice, but it's very "almost." Almost original, almost like a stack of boxes, etc. Why not something like this here, stolen from the "Architecture for Ottawa" thread:

Huh maybe it's just me but I don't like the design at all... It's very chunky and unimpressive. Nothing architecturally pleasing here... Maybe all of you are just used to seeing Ottawa "architecture" and are now starting to like it?

But yes, I agree, that other "stacked" building that was on the other thread looks much much nicer.

I'd like to chop the top off 56 Leonard in Downtown NYC and plop it down in Ottawa...well actually, I'd like to NOT chop the top off and plop it down in Ottawa but we all know that isn't happening for another 10+ years.
