Clarion, Pennsylvania - June 13 & 14, 2012

Clarion, Pennsylvania

All Photographs Copyright © 2012 by Robert E. Pence

I stayed overnight in Clarion during my visit to the annual June show at Coolspring Power Museum. My only
opportunities to photograph Clarion were on the evening of my arrival and the next morning en route to
Coolspring. I didn't make it to any residential areas of the town, or to the campus of
Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

The present Clarion County Courthouse was built 1883-1884

The fortress-like old Clarion County Prison was built 1872-1874. It has been replaced by a facility in nearby
Shippenville.

Beautiful town! Thanks for sharing your shots, Robert.

I like this kind of towns, so clean, so green and quiet.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Good looking town.

This shot was awesome. I have a sneaking suspicion that these are the owners kids.

Damn, nice photos, Robert! Wish I would have known you were in Clarion, I would have headed out there to meet up with you from out my way in Pittsburgh!

'specially when it involves being fried on the sidewalk. It already was pretty warm out when I took that.

I may return to that part of PA again before summer's over. I'll let you know. The purpose of my trip was to visit Coolspring Power Museum, which you might find interesting; the museum's exhibits include a lot of restored engines from the oil and gas fields of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and southeastern Ohio from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. My photos from an earlier trip to Coolspring are here:

Nice pictures! Clarion is a nice little county seat in that area, and to me seems a little different than any of the ones in surrounding counties.

It might be because Clarion is a college town, with a campus of about 7,000 students adjacent to the CBD.
