Wikipedia states the tower is 45 floors, however, the Socketsite article I referenced states 50 floors.

I will be in the neighborhood tomorrow and take pictures to see if there has been any progress.

I look forward to that! Thanks for starting this. I was thinking we should start a separate thread for the second tower rather than bringing the old one back to life.

Not to start up the whole huge debate about floors and height again (see the first several pages of tower 1's thread), but I thought JChurch long ago confirmed with the architects that tower 2 is 541' and 49 floors.

I tried doing a search for "Rincon Hill" but no threads came up. Where can we find the mystery ORH thread?

Here you go. It's in the Archived Projects section.

According to the architect's website the north tower is actually 46 stories, not 50, but I could not find any reference to the height.
It also states that the south tower is 55 stories, even though I have heard 60 stories elsewhere.

The saga continues!

Although I hate the design of ORH south (reminds me of an air filter from one side and a lighter from the other) I do think the North tower helps them make a bigger impact together and helps provide some cohesiveness. I can't wait for this to be topped out.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that the towers don't face the same direction. If you have to build the twin (fraternal), rotating the second tower 180 degrees just seems so...haphazard, as if they aren't even considering the facade design in terms of exposures, sun angles, glazing types. Who knows...maybe they didn't.

As mentioned, JChurch did a ton of research on these when they were first beginning construction and got specific height and floor count figures directly from the drawings. Unless the design has changed, those would be the numbers that should go on the thread heading.

I don't know how to change the title of the thread- it won't let me edit it.

Photos I got earlier today:

Nice work, 007.

A moderator will have to change the title for you. I think Tom in Chicago covers the construction area. You can send him a PM to have it changed.

I understand that conclusion from the ORH1 thread is that the north tower is going to be 541' but no idea on the number of floors yet- different places say different things.

Construction was supposed to start yesterday- has anybody been by or driven over the bridge and noticed any site prep?

man, i'm anxious to see this rise, but i'll definitely miss the view from the beach at the top of dolores park - from up there, the 1 rincon tower looks like another tower of the bay bridge.

the new tower(s) around there will destroy the effect and obscure the bridge vue from dolores, though the trade-off is obviously worth it.

I put in a request to Tom in Chicago on June 7 for a change in height on the title thread from 495' to 541', but so far no progress.

I was recently at a friend's loft on Beale street with a view of this site. She was complaining about all the new buildings planned for Freemont street and that "they are going to build another one of those ugly towers." I just bit my tongue and laughed inside since I cannot wait. I'll take a photo next time I am there
