I would say it's a pretty good view to wake up to every morning
I hate seeing pictures of BC's forest that was ravaged by Forest Fires and those that are being attacked by the Pine Beetles example your "Climbing the road to Idaho Peak, Sandon BC" picture.
Those forests and accompanying ecosystems are actually dependent on forest fires, and the general health of those forests due to forest fire suppression is very low compared to pre-forest fire prevention practices. Contrary to popular belief the amount of hectares burned annually these years is only a fraction of the historic norm, and the pine beetle epidemic is far more a product of this forest fire suppression than "global warming."
While I do believe in global warming (more correctly called climate change) I hate it when lazy reporters and researches blame forest fires and the pine beetle problem on it. Like the weather networks article on the Salve Lake fires this month.
Yeah, forest fires have gone up this decade relative to last, but they are still miniscule to the ecological norm pre 1900. Maybe this slight increase of fires is more due to the build up of old, aging, sick, dying trees and ground litter than climate change
