Question What's in store for Burrard and Georgia? ... it's going to be a tall one, but ...

City planners, in the generic term, have, as we all know, designated a few sites downtown for buildings that might reach 600, maybe 700 ft.

The site of the current Burrard Building, and I believe, the lot adjacently south are so designated. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

So does anyone have access to any renders of what might go there? This might make for an interesting discussion, if we can see what is planned for however many years in the future ... and it may be sooner than later.
Thank you

Nothing will be happening there for ages. There are too many underbuilt sites elsewhere in the city to necessitate knocking down buildings of that size and age.

was corrected on that and I totally goofed, time-wise any.
However, can anyone come up with ideas anyway? I mean, like what WOULD people envision there, when the time comes?
That's all I meant, really.

Perhaps. However, one might question then the economics then behind pulling down the Georgia Medical Dental building to put Cathedral Place up in it's place.

The Burrard building has had lots of money invested into it and is considered modernized, something that is overlooked is the Georgia Medical building was in dire need of major investment to bring it up to standards, the owner of the property decided against doing so.
As has been stated by the city nothing is expected to happen there for at least a couple of decades and perhaps not for 40yrs. Not sure how anyone can expect to know what trends will be around in that time period to predict what might happen on that site.

Great Video!! Especially the "reversing it" effect!
By the way, do you have any specific views on the economics of this? Can you draw a parallel beween cost ratios then, and today (or tomorrow)?
If you'd care to elaborate on your statement, great, 'cause I know very little on this. Thanks

Hey! Chill ! So do I. it's cool and sleek and in the International Style (I think) and the Burrard Building lends a "continuity" to Georgia.

But one day in the future, alas, it probably will come down anyway. It's zoned for a "tall" so what might that be, anyway, no offense at all to the Burrard Bldg.
That's all I meant.
