It's between 2 and 7 for me. Really good quality in this one.

Edit: I actually meant 2 and 8. I accidentally voted for 7, not that I dislike it or anything, but I meant to vote for 8.

I voted 2. It's simplicity is quite great.

I love how creepy the stacks are in #10. I can't decide though. I'm a big fan when colour looks monotone so #2 and #7 are in the runnning. It's probably 2. I just like the composition.

Haven't voted yet, so I can still change my mind. Several times.

2. It's got a nice eerie feel to it.

My vote goes to no. 3 for mood, while no. 2 is great artistically, and I think the graininess of no. 1 is also appropriate. There are lots of other noteworthy pics too.

I don't think I've ever lived anywhere I could see an operational smokestack. So I guess if this is smokestacks w/ smoke, I would have to go with 7. I did like 10, although I disagree with its title.

I'm kind of liking #11, interestingly enough. They're all excellent pictures, though.

Loads of great entries - I went with 3 myself, no surprise to find that Bulliver created that great image.

Thanks, KidKonza! You're right, I didn't do a very good job with the title - I was trying to be ambiguous and failed dismally.

Finally, I this isn't my image, but while we're on the subject I couldn't resist posting this smokestack, which I've only just heard of. Bliss Mill, Oxfordshire. Known locally as 'the toilet plunger', apparently.

No surprise flar won.

So, while still on the topic, here are two other angles of those stacks I took:

That's also got Center City in it.
