Montreal, Summer 2009 - The Old City and Le Plateau

Last September I was in Montreal. Here are some pictures.

We'll start with the mandatory downtown shot, from Mont Royal. I believe it is Canadian law that every Montreal photo thread contain this picture.

Now, the Old City:

I can't help but take pictures of adorable little birds. Sorry.

Now moving out of the old city and into the more typical residential neighborhoods. I believe this picture is from the Latin Quarter.

Most of the rest of these should be the neighborhood Le Plateau.

Plaza in front of Mont Royal Metro station.

A couple of panoramas.

This is Place Jacques Cartier, in the Old City:

This is Place D'Armes, also in the Old City:

This is the north view from Mont Royal, into the residential part of the city:

Nice photos..but the colors are washed out and the light is very harsh.

Fantastic looking city! In terms of Canadian cities I haven't visited yet, it's definitely #1 on my list of must-see!

I assume there will be a transportation focused thread at some point (just going by past threads you've created)?

Kingofthehill: Unless you mean the panoramas, I'm not sure how you're getting washed out colors. I saturated many of them pretty considerably.

Darkoshville: If you really want to see more, there are more on my flickr page here, here and here. I didn't want to make the thread too long, so I limited how many pictures I posted here.

OhioGuy: Yes, there will be a transportation thread, as well as one for Quebec City.

Montreal looks very European! I love the mix of old and new.
