I visited the inauguration of the new 3-storey shopping mall Entré at Värnhemstorget with 67 stores today, that finally has been completed after 20 years of talking (Sweden in a nutshell!) and countless design proposals. It is so huge that the whole area looks different. Unfortunately the plans for a 18-storey connected to the complex has been abandoned. The exterior of Entré looks nothing but a more modern version of an American 60s boxy mall, but inside it has a bit of “exclusive big city feeling” with glass roofs, a skybridge, long passages and glass elevators, a more international feeling than in other shopping malls in Malmö. But it doesn’t stand out as something special, that could be expected of the entrance of a city, and would hardly be noticed in USA or in other European countries. I also think it would better to build residences, as planned originally in the 90s masterplan, as there is much bigger demand for apartments than new stores in the city.

The new MKB residential building next to Entré looks pretty nice.
Everything is not finished yet, for example the bowling hall and the funhouse for kids. The cinema part has been scaled down I think, and there is a large gym.
The longest part of the complex is a long as Turning Torso is tall, 190m.
