Los Angas World Airport

For my first post on here (cue irritatingly tinny trumpets announcing my arrival), I thought I'd share with you a project I have recently begun. It is an airport based around the many modular style airports now such as Denver International (where a lot of the texturing is from - thanks Google!).

Before I begin, I would like to point out that I am rather new to SketchUp, so espeially for the first few updates, don't expect much in the way of architectural prowess. The jetways and planes I found on the 3D Warehouse, I take no credit for them. Practically all the rest is mine unless specified.

Now, to a couple of teasers:

Air France to CDG (6pm)
British Airways to LHR (7pm)
Alitalia/ Air One to FCO (7:45pm)
Finnair to HEL (5:45pm)
Air France to CDG (7:45pm)

Anything that needs dual jetways uses Pier 2.

Please comment on anything you want, I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!

Looks good, kinda simple. Nothing very "in your face" but it looks clean. You'll need practice and you should check out BoiseAirports' designs. He's airport king in sketchup.

Heh, I forgot to say I've only just begun to start the project, the runways will come at a later stage, don't you worry

Also, I have been looking at BoiseAirports creations, they were the force that inspired me to take up a project like this!

I'll be doing more tonight, which I will post later

Just got a quickie for you, I have started doing the groundwork, and finished off the planes/ jetways on Pier 1 (gates D1-D12 complete, D1 at the right with the A340, D12 at the top left with the A319). Enjoy!

I Love A319's! you should do some more work on little thing, and put in a tarmac. I suggest using maps and pictures to do some research.

flamesrule, just for you I done a runway! Not much else, however, has been done. Here is a shot of the whole site so far:

And secondly, a nice ramp pic showing the textures used, and also a few planes at the gates:

Just a tiddly update for tonight, as I am very tired . Someone asked for some ground stuff, so I've begun to add it in:

I have also done a little taxiway work, but nothing significant enough to merit a pic.

You can send A PM to the moderater (Aleks) and He can change the name for you.\

Is this a European Airport? most Airline's are European and there's lots of Airbuses. Well If it is where is it in Europe? The Food and supplies truck is nice, you can always ad little things like pickup trucks.

Austin55:
The airport is based around the New York region geographically, however in my head the climate and culture is more like that of SoCal or maybe even south Texas. I made schedules for the gates and decided to do a random time where there is a lot of activity. In this case, 4pm was selected, which is when the bulk of international flights to Europe depart, hence the majority of planes are European at this terminal.

flamesrule:
Thanks for the support!

And now, the important stuff!

I have mainly been adding detail today. Here is a shot of an approaching A320 or Air Canada, whilst an A340 (LAN), a 777 (Aerolineas Argentinas) and a 737-700 (WestJet) all wait for clearance

Finished adding ground stuff around the Air France A340

And put an Austrian plane awaiting a gate in the stands, which gave me a good photo op with the ground tower atop the terminal, and also the support of the main control tower.

Enjoy!

Wow!! How did I miss this thread?? Very cool airport you have there! I love it! I have a huge fleet of WilliamT's airplanes that I painted in all sorts of US airline colors, so if you need any help in that department (see my other airport threads for pictures of them), feel free to give me a holler! I'll have to see if I can find some way of sending them without putting them on 3D Warehouse.

Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see moar!!

Anthony

Oh ok so its like a International terminal. You could always make a city to go along with it hehe. I think you just need more things on the tarmac, like lines, and-what-not. Its lookin good, Airports have alot to live up to thanks to Anthony.

BoiseAirport:
I am a big fan of your airports on here, and if I must be perfectly honest, have been taking influences from your designs:

As you can probably see in my own piers, they are quite similar (sorry!).

I don't want to impose myself on you in any way, but if need be you could always e-mail them to me and I could use them that way. We'll see, anywho!

Austin55:
Thanks for the ideas! Duly noted, as you can see below!

-----

So anyway, following on from Austin's idea, I decided a few lines here and there wouldn't kill me, so I added ramp lines:

This one taken under our old friend, the AF A340...

A Google Maps style shot of a segment of taxiway/ ramp:

Aaaaaaaand finally for now, one looking out over my creation!

Ta daa!
