Stamford is a city of 118k and is the fourth largest city in Connecticut. Its within the New York City metro area and is accessible by Metro North commuter rail to Grand Central Station. The majority of the growth was in the early 80s and the most prolific developer is local firm, F.D. Rich. In the past 5 years more condo towers have been built including the new tallest in the cityL Trump Parc. This is a collaboration between FD Rich and Capelli, a major developer in neighboring Westchester County. And ofcourse Trump licensed his name to add more value
I grew up in the neighboring town to Stamford and spent a lot of my childhood here. This was the most accessible city atmosphere for me, prior to getting my license and grew a really strong attachment to it. Once I became a teenager i started taking the train to NYC more often. Downtown stamford did have some city planning errors, all of the big office buildings on Tresser Blvd have parking on their lower levels which killed off any form of street life on the main drag in downtown. More attention has been paid to this issue, recently the southern end of the downtown mall was demolished and opened up into a wide plaza with open aired storefronts to invigorate those blocks. I could go on, but instead-PICTURES!!

I've always enjoyed this building. Its called the Stamford Financial Center. Its a KPF design built in 84.

I ended my walking tour back where I started.
I still missed a bunch. Bedford st has some great storefronts around the Avon Theater, Stamford's independent film theater. The waterfront is actually nice in parts. Summer st is a long street of lowrise glassy office buildings. Northern Stamford is all multimillion dollar estates much like neighboring Greenwich.
