CAREER FULL TIME PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTER RECRUITMENT

1. RECRUITMENT DATES
Packages Available: Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
Posting Closes: 4:30 pm, Friday, March 13th, 2009
2. PROCESS PHASES
a) OS & CPS Tests: Applicants are required to attend on 1 of the 3 dates:
· Thursday, March 26th, 2009 – 9:00 am (registration at 8:00 am)
· Friday, March 27th, 2009 – 12:00 pm (registration at 11:00 am)
· Saturday, March 28th, 2009 – 9:00 am (registration at 8:00 am)
b) Interviews: Monday, April 20th, 2009 to Friday, May 1st, 2009
c) Conditional Offers: Week of May 11th, 2009
d) Physical Fitness Testing: Friday, May 22nd, 2009 or Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
e) Medicals: May 25th, 2009 to June 5th, 2009
f) Police Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Search): Due June 5th, 2009
3. EMPLOYMENT START DATE: Monday, August 17th, 2009

4. TRAINING PERIOD: 14 weeks, commencing on Employment Start Date

SALARY (2005 rates):
Salary Grade N-1/B
$44,972.58 per annum (probationary rate)
$51,891.44 per annum, after 12 months
$58,810.30 per annum, third year
$69,188.59 per annum, fourth year

^^wow, they make decent money.

A long time ago, my neighbour was a firefighter. I think he worked something like 8 days a month, 24 hour shifts, so he was home a lot. Of course the downside is you have to fight dangerous fires and go to serious accident scenes
