Canadian Provincial Flags

Here they are. Which do you like best, and why? Please refrain from blatant homerism; as it is very tacky.

For me:

Province: Quebec. The flag has "power", originality, history, and aesthetic appeal.

Territory: Northwest Territories: I always liked the bear head.

Worst: Newfoundland and Labrador (Oogly), Ontario/Manitoba (same difference)

NOT Ontario.

I'd say New Brunswick (which looks like it should be flying off an East Indiaman in the 18th century) and Quebec. I like those two by far the best.

Comments on flags in no particular order:

NL: one of my favourites; very original and looks much better on a flagpole than on paper or a computer screen

NU: also a personal favourite; very authentic and looks fantastic on a flagpole as well

BC: a very handsome flag; I’ve always liked this one

QC: nice and classy/classic, though not spectacular, except when 300,000 of them are being waved by a huge crowd on June 24

NB: unfortunately, looks way better on colour paper or on your computer screen than it does on a flagpole

SK, NS, YK, NWT, PEI: all OK, but none of them really do anything for me

AB: looks like there may be something interesting there but that crest is way too small

ON/MB: bo-ring variation on the old red ensign, which they are often mistaken for

BC doesn't do it for me, I don't like the compressed UK flag.

Alberta's could use a bigger crest.

I like Nunavut, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Quebec flags.

My favourite is NB followed by NS, Que and PEI.

Nunavut is kinda cool in the sense that only people in the know, understand what that thing is.

Ontario nondistinct, but would have a totally appeal if it lost the union jack in the corner. The actual crest alone is used frequently and is quite attractive with some symbolism as well.

Random thoughts:

I've gotta say, Sask's flag is very underrated. It's so simple and humble, yet still manages to convey pride.

I don't care much for Alberta's flag, though if the contents of the crest (maybe sans cross) were made into the flag, I might like it.

BC's flag might have been a good concept, but made way too tacky.

NB's flag is very powerful.

PEI's is another good concept, but island is too cartoony.

Nunavut's is another very simple and proud flag. Love it.

Manitoba and Ontario are awful.

I like Nova Scotia, NL and Quebec best.

A lot of praise for the NB flag. Interesting. I should say that the reason I said it doesn’t look good on a flagpole is that the main colour that appears so beautifully golden on here and on brand-new flags gets dirty and fades to a less esthetic yellow fairly quickly.

NB, definitely top, but I like NWT and SK too.

The proposed flag for Nunatsiavut is very cool and contemporary IMO.

FYI, it's a region in Labrador and Northern Quebec that's bandying about the independent-territory idea for a while.

Québec's and Nova Scotia's are powerful, simple and full of character.
New Brunswick's is beautiful, and looks good on a flag pole to me.

I echo what others have said about the colonial leftovers in Ontario and Manitoba. Surely we can do better. Time to let go of the Union Jack.

Nun, NB and Quebec.

As for Ontario and Manitoba I beg of you to please change your flags. Not only are they almost identical they area also were bland and too small of an image.

I defenitely love the Nunavut one the best! Its so simple but so powerful at the same time

I went with Quebec and Nova Scotia. These two flags display power, IMO.
