Cool LITTLE ROCK | Equal Rights for All!

I went out to Little Rock yesterday for the Join the Impact protest which was the protest against the bullcrap Prop 8 and other "morally" influenced bills banning people from equal rights. Lets start the tour.

On the way to Little Rock from Russellville, where I live, you pass through the small town of Morrilton, which is unfortunately dying.

North Little Rocks new and improved Main Street

N. L R still

On to Little Rock, this is a newly completed river front park, its quite nice actually.

Cool old railroad bridge over the Arkansas River

The best freakin Gyros in the south. The lady that works there looks happy to see me!

Revitalization along the river front in LR

Some sexy public transport

Sign located at the Central High School National Historic Site. Its quite pathetic that we still have to hold rallies to get equal rights for all.

Onto the rally, its actually quite a large group of people for Arkansas, especially considering that this is one of the most conservative states out there

Woot! Equal rights for all!

I don't know why that one guy looks like a vampire but oh well, he's from Eureka Springs so maybe they have a small enclave of gay vampires there but I dont really know.

Inside the west wing of the capital

Back into the city

Look at all those parking lots just waiting to get a supertall on one of em!

This dude is always at the River Market, I dont know how he gets his money because he is always there, but then again, I only go there on weekends. Hes pretty awesome though!

Some brand new scrapers

Heiffers new headquarters located by the Bill Clinton Library

Into the ghetto, Little Rock has one of the worst ghettos in any city. Back in the 90s LR had the highest murder rate out of any city in the U.S. and today the ghettos of LR are still pretty bad. Heres a typical ghetto house.

In da ghetto

Central High School National Historic Park. I would imagine everyone knows the story of Central High if not, its where black Civil Rights basically took off. The Little Rock 9, you know, where the kids were trying to get integrated into an all white school and the National Guard had to be called in to subdue the racist idiots.

Now back to River Market area

The Bill Clinton Library, taken about 5 months ago or so on another visit to LR

Heading back into Russellville

A photo I took from my flight down to Houston last summer. You can view the full version on wikipedias profile on LR

I hope you enjoyed the tour. Next tour of Arkansas will be of Eureka Springs, the sexiest city on the planet!

Wow! Great thread. Good shots of the protests... excellent to see.

And on to other compliments...

Very good to see the Streetcar... my understanding is that's been one component of a good revitalization for both N LR and LR. I'm proud to say my company designed the system! :-)

Incredible shots inside the Arkansas Capitol building.

It's been so long since I've been in downtown LR... last time I was there the Metropolitan Tower was... THE GOOD OLE' TCBY TOWER! HAHAHA!!!

Last comment... if you look closely at your last shot (skyline photo) you'll see two low-rise buildings along the River. This is Dillard's department stores headquarters... a little chest thumping for my Dad as he designed (chief architect) both the first one... and the addition. This is right across the street from the Amtrak station... which you can see if you ever catch the Texas Eagle (goes through Little Rock around 3 or 4 in the morning).

GREAT THREAD!!

Very cool. I enjoyed the thread quite a bit, thanks. I don't think I have ever seen a Little Rock thread before.

Way to go Little Rock! It is much easier to protest in a city like LA than it is in a smaller city like Little Rock. In the 21st century it is a shame some of us still have to assert our 1st Amendment rights to demand our rights under the 14th Amendment.

I think I saw a thread on NLR a long time ago, but Arkansas is quite under represented on this forum

Thanks for sharing, I knew what events took place there and that it was Clinton's city but I always wondered how it looked like.
To me, seems a nice and well maintained city, and I would visit it if I were living in the US.
BTW great pics

Funny timing for this thread. Just this past week I was thinking how little we see of Little Rock on this forum. And now we have a thread! Thanks for posting these.

Really nice to see the rally in a less progressive area. Great scenic photo at the end.

Thanks for another thread of a great city. You probably saw my own thread of LR. I did that thread back in July along with some of the other Arkansas cities. I like your night pictures!!

Yeah, I commented on all your arkansas posts for the most part today. You covered all the river valley cities except Russellville

Yeah, sorry about Russellville. I only had three days to do this. I ended up getting 8 cities in two days. I also underestimated the drive time between Hot Springs and Ft. Smith, not to mention the amount of time I spent in Hot Springs. I totally enderestimated the amount of time I spent there. It's a neat place!!

Have you ever been to Eureka Springs? Its so much cooler than Hot Springs and there is so much to see there, its beautiful. If you have never been there, go for sure.

Those streetcars are really cool. I'd love to see that in person.

Nice tour.

Very nice pics, I don't remember ever seeing a thread on Little Rock pics before so this was a nice surprise.

I enjoyed your photos, but lets keep the political comments to some other website forum.

Dude, thanks for the comment but seeing as this is your first comment on the forum, dont start telling others what they can and cannot do. I do not know what political comments you are talking about. All I said is that everyone should enjoy equal rights, if thats too much for you to handle than keep it to yourself. Thanks.
