The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has chalked out plans to begin its search for plots in Navi Mumbai and Thane to build truck terminals. This will help decongest the city from the heavy vehicular traffic.
According to Ratnakar Gaikwad, Metropolitan Commissioner, this idea was discussed at a recent meeting of the Unified Mumbai Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMMTA), the apex body working on the overall congestion policy for the city.
