Damn, great pics (so were the ones of the Sheraton)! I also liked seeing the Steele Indian School Park buildings.

Love seeing the light rail in action, gives a little more sense of what things are going to be like. We really only have a couple more months until the next chapter in the history of Phoenix opens. A lot is coming online.

(I was at the Central Library on the top floor reading with a great view of the downtown skyline today. All of the sudden I heard a train horn. I knew there wasn't any freight trains nearby that I should have been able to hear, so I look out the window and see the light rail passing over the Deck Park bridge. It was awesome seeing the skyline and looking down on the new light rail. /end story)

EDIT: Why not just link these pictures in the MW subforum and then post the whole thread in the main city photos section? These are great (especially that first one).

I like how Hanny's is keeping the names of the store's most popular menswear brands (e.g. Hickey-Freeman) on the wall. It's a nice homage to a vanished locally-based apparel store.

well, those pictures, especially with the train in them makes me feel as though Phoenix has actually emerged as a city. I ate dinner with my family at District tonight and we walked around and saw most of this afterward. The difference in foot traffic and vibrancy from just a year and a half ago when I moved to copper square is drastically improved.

Thanks, HX_Guy. The ASU Nursing building is going to look quite stunning. I like how you slipped it in there near the end with all your actual photos - wait a minute, what is that?

The ASU Nursing Building is stunning. I like. Great photos!

Downtown is coming along quite nicely. I went for a jog tonight (Friday) after a quick workout at the YMCA around 10pm, and there was quite a few people walking around. Most of them were going to the bars/clubs, all the hotel bars were open, and the ASU students were hanging out at the AZ Center. First Friday's was tonight as well.
