Portland River Tour

I took a ride on Portland's jet-boats (http://www.willamettejet.com/) a few weeks ago and these are the resulting pictures. If your ever in Portland this is a cool touristy thing to do, I did it with some out-of-town family. If it is a hot day I recommend you sit at the rear outside seats, I sat there and got soaked!

can you spot the two bald eagles?

ya they took us inside the island where the concrete company is still working and showed us the eagles. Interesting fact: their nests weigh up to 80 pounds!

wow, they could turn that factory up by the rapids in oregon city into some awesome lofts.

unfortunately, pdx's downtown isn't terribly impressive from below. in fact, the top of the marquam bridge gives you just about the best view possible. speaking of which, isn't the bridge pedal this wkend? anyone going to take some pictures?

I love these shots - not ones you normally see of downtown. True, the skyline doesn't exactly pop out at you from these angles. The city has a 40-story maximum for the tallest buildings (view corridors), and the limits go even lower as you approach the waterfront, sort of a 'step-down' approach to the skyline. I'd personally like to see some tall skinnies on the waterfront -I think even the 22-story ZGF (under construction on 12th Ave.) was originally planned for the waterfront but the height limits made it unfeasible. Anyway thanks for the great photos!

Great shots. I kept looking for the eagles in the picture above the question. When I decided not to strain my old eyes any further I scrolled down to the next pic and there they were. Thanks for the shots from the river. I need to take that tour also. Does that tour run on week days?

Great shots. I didn't realize the boat went all the way to Oregon City. I'll have to do that some day.

sorry for the confusion. I did it on a tuesday and as far as I know it runs twice a day every day, though I would assume there are more trips on the weekends and less during the winter.
