i dont think that CMHR will necesarily cause buildings to look like those shown above, but i do hope that is at least elevates the culture of design in the city.....if it brings awareness to unique design and quality materials and detailing, then possibly other developers will begin to see the value in that....currently they do not.
if it is successful, as saskftw points out, winnipeg will become known for this building and that excitement might elevate the quality of development.
as it is, i think with hydro, the library, red river college, the college for the environment
, and maybe if we are lucky, one other building that i cant tell you about....the quality of our buildings is begining to improve...too bad we missed the boat on MTS centre, from the outside at least.
after the guggenheim was built the architectural quality in bilbao improved dramatically.....they even had norman foster design their subway stops.
