Juno | An excellent shot-in-Vancouver movie

My girlfriend and I saw Juno today and it is fantastic. Easily one of the top one or two movies I saw this year.

Setting aside for the moment my opinion that it is very well written and acted, the movie is full of subtle Vancouver references. I recognized the track at Eric Hamber high school, Coquitlam Town Centre, Prince of Wales High School, a Dunbar side street, the highway en route to Roberts Bank superport, and the upscale Morgan Creek subdivision in South Surrey.

I highly recommend this movie.

I've never heard of this movie before now. I was just looking at reviews and one from the NY times came up (taken completely out of context): "the generic, instantly mockable suburban setting ".

They're probably referring to what looked like Fraser heights to me.

I just saw the movie yesterday and really enjoyed it too.

I also recognized the clinic in the movie as being the building on the corner of Boundary and Canada Way on the edge of Burnaby.

Same as Superbad and Knocked up, those two films were full of subtle and not so subtle Vancouver references.

Seth Rogen is a blatant Vancouver homer.

Probably Minneapolis. There is a Minnesota license plate shown briefly in one scene and they also mention that the couple adopting the baby is in St. Cloud, which is a suburb of Minneapolis.

The writer used to be a dancer at Sex World in Minneapolis, she worked in the Dollhouse which are little dance booths where she'd play her game boy while she waited for a customer.

Like 204 said the references where mostly Twin Cities area references. Like the one about the girl getting naked and swimming in the Ridgedale Mall fountain.

Course if they filmed in Vancouver you're going to get some shots from there.
