Those night shots made me think of a question. If i were to ask..."what time pops in your head when you think of downtown & the Pearl dramatically slowing down with foot traffic", what is the first time that comes up? Of course this is subjective, but fun. I'm not including big event nights like an NBA game or some huge concert... just a typical night downtown. When i stayed in Portland for 3 nights last year, i'd say the average time for dramatic slowdown was around midnight (i.e. 1 person on the sidewalk every 10 minutes)

Looks like a really rad city.

In some respects the photos really remind me of Vancouver.

[QUOTE=Okstate;3156544]. If i were to ask..."what time pops in your head when you think of downtown & the Pearl dramatically slowing down with foot traffic", what is the first time that comes up?

It depends on where you are downtown. 1st through 3rd aves from Old town almost to yamhill are full of clubgoers and people driving around until around 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. I love that most people don't really start going "out" until almost midnight in Portland. Most clubs stay open until 230-3am or later. Seattle and all California cities start and end earlier. There isn't ANYTHING to do in San Diego or Seattle after 130am as the last call is made. Outside of the "nightlife" areas as these photos prove, dowtown Portland is quiet after around 10pm. When I started going out in Portland in the 90's, I didn't think it was special....but now after having lived in and visited many other cities...Dowtown Portland has proven to be very lively with an uninhibited and diverse range of nightlife.

What Bar is that?

One more Portland accolade: "People actually dance in the clubs and not just stand around and drink!"

Man that's 2 drinks in Portland including tip! LOL. In San Diego, $10 is 2/3 of a short poured, attitude laced drink in a materialistic and fake environment.

⬆ Most bars in Oregon are allowed a few (can't remember the actual #) video poker machines (which are online with the Oregon Lottery, I think. A lot less messy than pull tabs!)

haha

I was surprised by how cheap beer was - drank heinekien in bottles for $3 all night the other places we went to it was about $3.25 - not bad

up here the same is usually $5.75 - $7.25 depending on the place

for $20 one can get pretty drunk down there
