How far do you live from your city's downtown?

I know there are a lot of urban and skyscraper fans on here and it got me to thinking about myself...even though I love the urban feel and tall buildings, I'm not doing much supporting with where I live...

Our of curiosity, I went to maps.google.com and plugged in my current address then used 1 W. Washington St, Phoenix, AZ as the center of downtown and came up with 27.0 miles from the city's core.

How far is everyone else?

According to Google Earth, from my house to the precise center of downtown (1 W Wash), I'm 2.4 miles.

I can see the Qwest building and other midtown buildings from inside my house, and if I go out in the backyard, I can look downtown and see the cranes and Chase Building, etc.

If you consider Capitol and Main (just a random guess) as the core of Boise I live 1.5 miles from it, but that's because of funky streets. It'd be less than a mile if I could draw a straight line.

Using 1 S. Nevada Ave. as the downtown address, I came up with 9.4 miles.

I am 12 very walkable or bikeable blocks from downtown. When the leaves have fallen from the trees I can see the Capitol and the tops of some of the towers from my front yard. I consider the Northend an extension of downtown.

I live 28.4 Miles from Salt Lake and 10.8 from downtown Ogden.

I'm within walking distance of downtown Clearfield if that's worth anything :-)

I live just under 14 miles from Speer and Colfax in downtown Denver, estimated 20min travel time all freeway. I live on 123rd in Westmister by I-25 crazy stuff, when I lived in Aurora we were 18 Miles East of downtown Denver, now that we live up here though I swear it feels further out than Aurora did. Strange?

From my old place in Magna I was 13 minutes from downtown (14.1 mi from parking space to parking space) without traffic.

From my new place in Provo, I'm 45 minutes (43.9 miles) from downtown without traffic. (Although, about 5-7 mins from downtown Provo)

Too far.

Being that I am in Boulder, I am guessing I am roughly 27 miles from Downtown Denver.

How far are you from downtown Boulder? Downtown Boulder counts.

Anyway...

I'm about 4 miles from the White House and about 3 from downtown's west end. My neighborhood is similar to what Denver's Central Platte Valley will be after it's built.
