A smaller KC on the Plains! Very nice. Now you've done Oklahoma City and Wichita, where is TULSA?

Honestly, I don't think Wichita has any traits of KCMO what so ever. KCMO is simply a totally different kind of city, not just larger, it's built different too.

Wichita is similar to Kansas City, Kansas, only Wichita is much better in my opinion. "KCK" is just not a "real" city in my opinion or at least I have a hard time calling much of it, if any, "urban". People here in KC might argue with me on that, but I have a different definition of urban than most the locals .

I'm way off topic.

Having said that, Wichita is a nice little town that can at least be a breath of fresh air when driving across the plains of KS, OK, TX etc, which I personally hate doing.

I hear ya, the Plains around Wichita in all directions until you hit the more forested hills of eastern Kansas are very desolate and boring to drive through. But there can be a certain amount of beauty in the vast open spaces in this part of the country, especially rolling wheat and corn fields and amazing sunsets. The same type of terrain is found all along the "cross timbers" which is pretty much the I-35 corridor from central Texas northwards, where the forested east meets the Rocky Mountain plateau and the Plains.

Thanks for posting those very nice pics of my home city, KCGridlock. Those are by far the best photos of Wichita anywhere on the net. For a city Wichita's size, I just wish its skyline were taller.

That yacht is part of the Wichita boathouse. I believe that yacht was donated from a Wichita millionare to the boathouse when it first opened.

That's the Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center. Has held lots of different events and shows over the years. I had gone there a couple of years ago for a concert of a music group of whom I had missed the chance to see in New Orleans nearly 10 years ago. This was their first concert in Wichita and Century II turned out to be a good place for them to play even though they could've chosen the Kansas Coliseum or another venue out west. Here's a link to the official website of the convention center:
http://www.century2.org/

Very recently, the Kansas State Legislature approved casinos in 4 areas of Kansas with Sedgwick county being one of them (the county Wichita is in) and there is a flood of casino proposals and developments coming in now with some of them proposing to turn Century II into part of a large casino complex in downtown Wichita that would include a 400+ room hotel tower.
