yakumoto, your effort is greatly appreciated.
From the Downtown News. Interior demolition has been ongoing for quite some time, but now it looks like they're clear to move into condo conversion at 1010 Wilshire.
1010 Wilshire Gets Go-Ahead
Developer Amir LLC has received permits for the condominium conversion of the structure at 1010 Wilshire Blvd., allowing work to begin on the creation of 227 lofts, according to Hamid Behdad from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office. The 16-story edifice, which was built in 1960 as the headquarters of the Signal Oil Building, is slated to be turned into 800- to 1,200-square-foot residences. Amenities will include a pool, recreation area and possibly a health club. The project includes a 15% affordable housing component. The transformation was facilitated by the city's 1999 passage of the adaptive reuse ordinance, which, according to Behdad's office, has created 11,077 housing units citywide (in various stages of development) worth $6 billion.
