Any reasonable estimate on how much the units would go for?

^ From what i've seen on their website concerning the square feet, they probably go from $2 to 5 Million, AT LEAST.

if not, is swiss boring the first main contractor and now it is changed and Swissboring is restricted to only for piling work?
Swissboring is the piling contractor only, they've now finished their work.
A main contractor is now supposed to take over who should build the whole tower including cladding, etc. We just don't know what the story is with the main contractor.

Anyway, some updates, slightly old.

Yes, they start from $2 million I think. Remember though, these are 6,000 square foot apartments though.

Apparantly stuff is happening on site, don't know what though. Let's hope it's the main contractor moving in.

So main contractor is definitely ACC then. They have loads of experience with supertalls by now. Rose rotana, almas tower, princess tower, elite residence, central market in abu dhabi, etihad towers, etc.

Damn, I was comparing your Sketchup model to buildings that I'm familiar with and placing it in various skylines and I underestimated the height of this tower! I know it was tall but DAAAMMMNNNN!

I knew they would get this one going, because to sell half of the units, they had to sell just 60 of them. That's nothing.

But hopefully now, with the CS (likely) out of the way they can get rid of the awful spire.

Actually there's an insider on SSC who seems to be working for one of the companies involved in the construction of this and when asked about the spire he basically said "what spire?"

ACC are now working on the site.
The foundation is due to be poured in december, we will see if that will happen or not.
Completion of this is supposed to be at the end of 2013 but as usual, I think delays will mean it will actually be completed at the end of 2014. I'd say topping out will happen at the end of 2013 though.

They are breaking the pile caps now. This excavation is insanely deep. I think there are supposed to be 6 basements.
You can also see the ACC sign on the site offices.

I'm going to change this to 516m since all indications tell us the spire is gone (which makes since with the chicago spire firmly in the ground ).

Basically all recent renders show no spire, the insider on SSC (maybe from ACC) when confronted with the question about it said "what spire?" and also recent articles about this tower all mention the height as 516m not 618m as before.

At cityscape 2009 both versions of this tower were exhibited.

Tower crane. Looks like somehow this one might be getting off the ground.

^^ According to the insider on SSC, this crane isn't the main one which will rise with the tower. It's only temporary for helping with lifting stuff into the site for the foundation, etc.

The design of this tower is so cool. One of my favorites in Dubai. Hope it turns out looking decent.
