All of 5/3's deals were with Amazon Fresh though, and I think the Printers Row site is too small for them. But yes, would love a redevelopment on that corner.

I'm sad the parking garage project across the street fell through and the parking lot across from the Transportation Bldg can't seem to get developed either.

Since we're on the block, does anyone know what the hell is happening with the Church of Scientology? Their gawdy logo has been covered in a trash bag for more than a year (two years?) now.

I'd be happy if they never open for what I hope are obvious reasons, but it's a beautiful building and it'd be nice if it could be put to good use.

This, I hate Trader Joe's. Years ago, when I first heard the rave reviews I went to check it out. I couldn't believe what it was. Basically frozen foods and bad wine. Aldi is a million times better. At least they don't hide what they are. I lived in Andersonville for years and Edgewater Produce is fantastic. I hope this plan is rejected.

i'm praying to god that the new western avenue corridor study forces the redevelopment of the large western/lawrence parcel into something more intensive, mixed-use, and intersting than a dumb old downsized single-story 5/3 with a drive-up attached to a dumb old single story amazon fresh store with a goddamn surface parking lot.

I thought I heard the Amazon Fresh thing is dead. I hope it is. Between Harvest Time and Gene's why would we need some crappy Amazon grocery?

yeah, let's hope so!

that prominent corner deserves WAY more than cheap single-story throw-away single-use retail crap better suited for morton grove or wherever.

harvest time is fantastic for produce and meat, but a bit spendy for non-perishable staples, which we primarily get down at aldi.

YES! Even the owners are like, don't buy toilet paper here!

This is what they are doing at Damen/Irving, so there is hope.

Good news on 629 W Lake. That Fast Track restaurant is such an eye sore.

If I recall correctly, that was kind of an odd diner hot dog stand. Places like that give a city some character

edit: found an article about the closing

Fast Track didn't bother me but covering up the blank wall of that parking structure with a skinny TOD is a great thing.

There were a few demo permits issued yesterday for the 3900 block of N Lincoln, just south of Irving Park Rd. Includes a few 3 story buildings and small vacant lot:

In its place will be built a new 5 story, 61 unit building with 68 units and ground floor retail space with 36 parking spaces. A nice density and height bump for the area. Probably matches the height of the 5 story building at the corner of Lincoln & Irving Park.

Fast Track looks a little messy but it's cool. I wish they could transplant it as is somewhere it would fit better, like on the corner of lower density neighborhood block.

They should be required to preserve/incorporate the 3922 building.
