311 W Illinois was issued a new construction permit for its foundation yesterday. 24 stories, 245 units.

^ There is also some sort of addition to the church (I think 4 stories or something) that was issued a permit a few weeks ago.

That was probably it. The permit was a renovation one but listed "new construction" on it. Usually when it's an addition it just states addition. Thanks for the clarification.

Either way, I'm excited for this one to start and another lot to bite the dust.

Backhoes and digging at 465 N. Park Drive next to Lowes Hotel. Also looked like guy had geigercounter checking for thorium hotspots.

There are four major parking lots left in the area bounded by the River, Ohio, Columbus/Fairbanks, and Mich Ave. Five if you count that dilapidated parking garage at St. Claire and Grand. It'll be really interesting to see what happens with them. It'd be nice if 1-2 of them were office buildings and not all residential or hotels. From an urban life standpoint, together those are probably more important than the Spire site.

^ Hyde Park has some of the best architecture going up right now in the city. Lets hope Solstice finally gets started soon.
