The site plan application would allow the construction of 2 buildings with total 354 dwelling units in
two phases divided by underground storm water line easement. Phase one (Building A) is a 6-storey
building containing 208 units; Phase two (Building B) is 6-12 storey building with 146 units.

I like it... although I agree with the UDRP panel comments that the pre-owned building could be more like the main dealership. I assume the concrete courtyard out front will be used for customer parking?

Wowzers...It will be right across the street from the new Elite BMW that will be starting construction soon. Mercedes, BMW, and Audi all within 1000 feet of each other.

I hate the sprawl of North American car dealerships. I know its an artifact of the dealership model, but I'm always depressed by the wasteful land use.

For a view of what's possible for a downtown car dealership, here's what Audi Manhatten looks like:

I can't remember which car dealership it was, Jaguar(?), but there was a similar dealership on Queen St W really close to the Eaton Centre in Toronto. At least, that was during the time I lived there (2008-2009).

Not quite as urban but very cool in Toronto.
Also, the Telsa dealership in Washington DC is just a storefront, like many dealerships in Spain.

Would smaller urban storefront dealerships work in Canada? Thoughts?

With proper transit reducing peoples suburbanites dependence on cars to get downtown, they could convert parts of underground garages to dealerships, so storefront giving access to street level show rooms. These show rooms could have stairs down to the parking lot where they store their test drive vehicles.

Storefront dealerships would work brilliantly here...but the outdated rules for geographic brand proximity and territories limit what can be done because the legacy dealerships are guaranteed their markets.

Not nearly as schnazzy as those examples, but there's a long-standing Toyota dealership on Sainte-Catherine Street West in MTL that's on the first two floors of ona office building

There's a Mini dealership in downtown Toronto, and a GM one in the centre of Montreal.

Here in Ottawa, Surgenor was on Sparks where the Delta is now, and Myers was on Catherine at Elgin where the OPS is now. There was also a dealer on Slater (Campbell, Turpin or Belisle?) where that new Brocolini is being built.

Winnipeg also had Carter's just across from the University of Winnipeg. But it moved to the suburbs when GM pushed dealerships to modernize in the late 80s.

On King Street East in Toronto I saw two car dealerships on the ground floor of two mid-rise condos. I'd love to see that in Ottawa.

I wonder if this is this some sort of 'default' Audi dealership design. Here's what the one in Laval, Quebec looks like:

Yes, this one will be the same as the Laval one and there is also another one the same in Toronto.

Tesla has a dealership storefront in Toronto's Yorkdale Centre.

Would be nice if Mark Motors Porsche would move to a new location. I guess that is not in the cards as they just renovated the existing building in Vanier to align with Porsche image.

The existing garage has limited bays for servicing and appointments sometimes require several weeks.
