I thought it would be appropriate to post this impact here:

Not the tallest yet?

Salesforce Tower now taller than Transamerica Pyramid [UPDATE: Not so fast...]:

Quote:

[UPDATE, 10/1/16: Not so fast. Helen Han, marketing director for developer Boston Properties, says their building is not yet as tall as all that. According to Han, the core of Salesforce Tower presently sits at just under 800 feet. Previously, Clark Construction's field office admin at the site confirmed a figure of 855 feet. No one at Clark has yet returned our messages about the discrepancy. Boston Properties estimates that the building will reach 853 feet in mid October, probably topping 823 feet in the coming week.]

[UPDATE: Ryan Haworth, project executive at Clark Construction, now says that the 855 foot height previously confirmed by the Clark admin is not correct. Both the developer and the construction company agree that Salesforce Tower should actually surpass Transamerica in about two weeks.]

Achievement unlocked: goalposts moved!

Seriously though, I've always disliked the TA building and thought it was a joke. When LA got the USBT tower, I started fervently hoping SF would get a nice, tall building to dominate and reinvent their skyline.

I've only had to wait about 26 years. Two more weeks is a cakewalk. Let's just hope they don't pull another technicality out of their assholes and move the goalposts again

Panorama - 10/03/2016

The Transamerica Building can be seen peeking over the Hilton Hotel tower. The view is from the Fox Plaza in the Civic Center, from the 27th floor. (The remodel has been complete for the east side of the low rise of the Fox Plaza - what a horror!)

well, when it really does get to 855' and/or 1070'....

fyi: maybe for all those who thought it was taller (and it is looking mighty tall).
i think it is really going to dominate the skyline when it does reach 1070'.

in addition, i was the one who wrote a short note to both sfcurbed and the clark people about all the many guesses concerning its current height.

source below from SFcurbed.

^^^^^^

I think its the frame of reference in terms of it standing amongst its peers as shown in post #1944 that gives it a dominating look and creating the illusion that its much taller than it currently stands. Doesn't look like 800 ft, but taller!. Knowing the Transamerica buildings height though kinda breaks the illusion, but still, compared to everything around it, its effect on the skyscraper mass is impressive.

@boyinthecity

Yeah, it's even better news since it'll go even higher than we thought!

Why is it taking so long for the windows to be installed? Driving me nuts. It's seems they should be much further along in that part of the construction. I can't handle it anymore!

Anyone think US Bank Tower is better than Salesforce?

How about tabling this discussion until.....

I will be first to take the bait.

Personally, I would table the discussion till Salesforce is actually completed.

especially since your picture highlights the crown of the wonderful Us Bank Tower..

and because Salesforce will have an interesting and sculptured crown in and of itself --a crown which is not even constructed at this time.

What is the US Bank Tower?

That looks like the Library Tower to me.

I like the USBT slightly better than SF. Even though I'm from LA, I promise there's no bias. For example I've previously said I like SF better than WG and consider it the legitimately taller building of the two (upon completion, of course).
