I don't want to stretch the purpose of this thread, but knowing what's going on elsewhere does give a better sense of what should be going on here...in LA...in dtla.

When I see these other cities, one which most ppl have never heard of, the other one the capital of a nation that was struggling not too long ago, I want to ask, when is LA going to have running water and indoor plumbing?....

superficial aspects of a town won't show all its angles, including bad ones....some of the bldgs in moscow aren't exactly the greatest looking, but their scale isn't too shabby either.
In 2019 it's more shocking to think of just how weak dtla was several yrs ago, even more so compared with what many well known cities have long been like. Now it's more shocking based on what even no name cities like one in northern Brazil and a city in the land once behind the former iron curtain are currently like.
Here in LA, we can't be sure the loopy part of a proj across from Staples will be built or not?.....Inferiority complex? I feel one coming on. At least we don't have much of a homeless & trash problem.
