I haven't seen a Hunter update in a while. Hopefully everyone didn't annoy him with their criticisms of his take on downtown development to the point where he's given up on this forum...

[QUOTE=blackcat23;7447063]Mid-rise office building planned in Arts District

Nine-story building with 91,000 sq. ft. of office space and 6,100 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail. Case filing indicates that the developer is Lowe Enterprises.

Ground-up construction in the AD? Holy hell.

Well heaven forbid we annoy him with our opinions on an opinion forum!

He voiced his thoughts, others voiced theirs, and disagreements happened.
He's tougher than that, considering the things he's said and been rebuked for over the years. He's not gone...

Besides, Ceasar delivers great pics and vids ...without snide comments...(plus Mojeda just dropped an epic update on us...thank you!) ...so I think we'll be fine.

That picture of Metropolis is just ridiculous. Great shots.

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of other great contributing members like Cesar and Mojeda. I just was digging the drone photos!

Thanks for the photo update guys. Metropolis is actually 6 separate towers under construction. From the renderings; the wings of towers 3 and 4 are just as tall as the tower 1 hotel, and they each have their own concrete core as well as being structurally separated (seismic purposes) from their main towers. Crazy!

Also, the bloc has moved the LA fitness to what used to be a blank wall on flower st. I'm glad they opened up the sides to storefronts... I think this is a much better use and access point for the gym

My assumption is that it has something to do with the installation of the SkySlide. Maybe after that's done, the setbacks will be floodlit again?

I'm wondering about the original lighting of the MTA headquarters building. It opened in 1994 or '95, and I remember there was orange/yellowish neon along the top. Then in 2001 a fire broke out there, and right around that time, the neon lighting disappeared.

I like our picture updates here, I can't complain.

Sometimes it's smart to be a bit calmer and quieter.
We work together, not against each other. The atmosphere here improved.

It's a great community.

Can it be argued we are currently experiencing the largest boom LA has ever seen?

Separately, we have 15 towers above 22 floors going up in the city. That's a big difference from just 1 a few years ago.

I think you mean going up in Downtown alone! If you include the courthouse it's 16!

Mojeda,
I'm at a loss to name them. Which are they?

That's why we have the first page.

But it's hard to keep track, I get that.

@Mojeda

Yes, you are correct.

I just went on the expo line and it was so crowded, it took us like 10 minutes to get from 7th street to the Palmer building on 23rd st. I just said fuck it and got off. The new trains were really nice though. I'll take some construction updates now.

Yes, it's crazy.

Everybody wants to be the first - plus it's free for Friday/Saturday.
Things will change, it will slow down after the first weekend, but they might need to run more trains at one point.

Downtown - Santa Monica is an awesome connection.

No. LA had the largest population growth of any city in the history of the United States when it grew by 300% between 1910 and 1920. Imagine the construction then, let alone from the 20s to the 30s, and the post war baby boom. Our current boom is nothing compared to that. Honestly, the 1980s probably had more construction that we currently do now. This is not to say our current boom is insignificant, as it certainly isn't, but we are no where near having the biggest construction boom in the history of the city.
