An Apex employee told me they're looking at a fall start date so that roughly lines up with late summer.

Twin Omni projects

May someone provide information about the Twin Omni projects. Very curious as to where and what that is?

Same. I'd given up on Giannini Place years ago, and now here we are. Honestly, it's incredible how far downtown has come, and how much activity is happening right now. Whenever someone on here complains about a project taking a month longer than expected, I think back to the dark days of 2010ish when there was literally NOTHING under construction downtown, and I would come on here every day hoping to see something - anything! - announced. And now we've had what, three new towers start construction this week? I can't even keep count anymore. It seems silly to nitpick about all that still needs to be cleaned up downtown when we live in a world where LA Central AND Metropolis are actually under construction.

What's the 3rd tower?

But you're right. Metropolis was a lot that had plans for it as far back as the 80's and nothing happened, until now.

Yeah, when I first started following this board, I think the Broad was about to break ground. And that was about the only interesting project going on.

The most surprising project indeed is Metropolis, especially considering we got this awesome version instead of the fugly fortress that was previously proposed.

Has anyone else noticed the loss of the floodlighting of the US Bank Tower? I was pretty sad to see it all dark last time I was in LA, has anyone heard if/when it's coming back?

Whatever happened to the greatly publicized renovation of the "Sparkle Factory"? Either Tarina Tarantino and Husband are under-capitalized or something else has happened. Or perhaps it was renovated in the same fashion as the Ace hotel across the street--meaning they couldn't afford it, went on the cheap, pretended that it was fully done, and the building still looks like crap. I hope that the odd (and by the way dishonest) Ace renovation did not somehow set a precedent for much of the historic work now going on in downtown. But, the the work on both the old May Company bldg. and Giannini place should break out of that. The "big boys" from New York know very well what the Hell they are doing. They are not so stupid as to take on a project which they cannot fully afford, grab headlines, do shoddy work and then call it a day.
Looks like they may be trying to ditch the Sparkle Factory

Seeing the link to the Continental building from this realtor's other listing, DTLA's other old structures would do well to follow it's lead with the great lighting.

I have to say, this is great news. I love this building and it needs work. Hopefully a developer will clean it up and bring in some great tenants.

Thank you for finding this. It is obvious that the Tarantinos are selling for whatever reason. I've mentioned on this forum probably a few years ago that my fantasy was that the Sparkle Factory be fully restored and (don't laugh) painted on both sides of the building a metallic gold or silver color. When I say metallic I mean the kind of paint with the minute sparkles like the cars in the 1960"s. And that an ample walkway be made between the building and the Palmer project from Broadway to Spring, lined with shops and eateries. I think that would have been so incredible and successful.

Google maps has some very recent images of DTLA. You can visibly see many of the projects currently under construction as well as some of the lots being prepped.

I just did a walk through DTLA the other day to check out the Mack Urban site, and I was really overwhelmed by how much South Park has changed since I moved last year. In a year from now, the area from LA Live east to Olive will have added thousands of residents.

And looking at google maps, I can really see the potential for that frontier to move further east into the fashion and flower districts, where there is relatively little traffic from skid row and a ton of opportunity for development. Exciting times.

I have a memory of when I first moved to downtown where I'm at that Shell on Olympic looking out over the vast sea of parking lots and wondering what the hell I had done. That entire view is basically changed now.
