I don’t know her.

But I do know that this could be a leading indicator of future problems. But it may also not be.

Inside Waterline, Downtown Austin’s Record-Breaking ‘Supertall’ Tower Plan

https://austin.towers.net/inside-wat...ll-tower-plan/

After nearly two years of leaked renderings, city permit filings, and other eyebrow-raising scraps of intel, the news is finally here in official form: the tower planned in downtown Austin at 98 Red River Street by developers Lincoln Property Company and Kairoi Residential quietly broke ground on June 13 earlier this year — and when the 74-story building reaches its maximum height of 1,022 feet by its scheduled completion sometime in late 2026, the tower will become the tallest in Texas, exceeding the reach of the current record-holder in Houston by 20 feet.
The name is...I don't know, stupid?

I am not seeing sale prices really fall in the center of the city - what I am seeing is folks who were listing homes for sale at 2.5-3mm are bringing them back down to earth - to around or a bit above where they were selling 6 months ago.

If anything happened a bunch of home owners decided the market was exploding and prices would only skyrocket and were trying to cash out for prices seriously inflated above the already inflated market price.

I mean, there was a point where our house (~600K purchase 7 years ago) was getting offers from speculators for 1.8mm and I suspect the actual value is around 1.4. That 1.8mm dollar offer moment came and went very quickly as it doesn't appear the market actually ever supported it with transactions.

^^^How does this subject have anything to do with the Waterline? I keep seeing updates and it's just this off-subject back-and-forth...

The OP on this subject was from someone who just wanted to rile you all up. Don't let them achieve said goal.

With regard to the name...I agree. It's a bit weird. But, it's Austin, right?!?

No new photos of the site. But here's a new rendering of the tower in the background of a rendering of that new One Ladybird Lake tower proposal on the south side of the river. KPF designed both buildings which is why it's in the rendering. Urbannizer posted the project info in the Austin forum.

It's in the national news now.

Work starts on Austin tower destined to be tallest in Texas at 74 stories high

Shonda Novak
Austin American-Statesman

AUSTIN — Construction is underway on a 74-story tower in downtown Austin that, once completed, will become the tallest building not only in Austin but in all of Texas, its developers say.

Development partners Lincoln Property Company and Kairoi Residential said they have broken ground on the mixed-use tower, planned to be 1,022 feet tall. The tower joins downtown Austin's ongoing high-rise building boom, which is reshaping the city's skyline.

For perspective, at just over 1,774 feet, One World Trade Center in New York is the tallest building in the nation followed by Central Park Tower in New York standing at 1,550 feet. Nearby, and much lower on the list of tallest buildings in the U.S. ranked by World Atlas, stands the Bank of America Tower at 1,200 feet.

"National news" in that it is in the paper that gets slipped under your hotel room door every morning.

The Austin American-Statesman and USA Today are both owned by Gannet, so I'm not really surprised to see the two publishing the same story. It's even Shonda Novak who wrote that article, an American-Statesman writer. They also own KVUE.
