It's a very good angle of the skyline too (I presume the staircase?).

It's a not-so-typical view from the mountain where you can see Tour de la bourse, which is hidden behind PVM when seen from the actual lookout. Which is something that has always bothered me. #firstworldproblems

What is even cooler is seeing the skyscrapers of Montreal from the mountains of the USA (definitely from Jay Peak in Vermont, and on good days, from Mt. Mansfield (also in Vermont and from Whiteface (NY state)).

The picture is taken from the top of a very steep cliff behind the Royal Victoria Hospital.

I absolutely love that angle of the QC skyline. Simple, clean, yet layered and epic.

I'll take this anytime over a random corporate clump of boring spandrel-clad towers.

Nice lighting and framing in that Quebec City shot but I'm surprised that the skyline gets so much love on here. I have spent a lot of time in QC and in my opinion the post 1950 skyline is horribly dated and ugly and ruins the natural and historical aesthetic of the City in a lot of ways.

I don't disagree about the actual towers themselves, but the overall silhouette they create, particularly from that angle, is quite nice. Plus there's a certain something I can't put my finger on, perhaps a nostalgia that prevents me from totally hating on the otherwise dated office towers.

I know I'm being pedantic, but three of the five prominent towers in this beautiful shot we are talking about are Hotels (Delta, Hilton, Concorde). Only the tallest tower and the one furthest to the right of the five are office towers.

It doesn't get any love on here at all, except for my occasional outbursts. I think I must be one of a handleful of people on this planet who appreciates the QC skyline.

To me, the QC skyline is completely unique and epic. The towers are a brash aesthetic statement about Quebec entering the modern era.

I used to hate brutalism, but i've come around to it, so that helps appreciating the towers a bit more.

I'm surprised you love the Ottawa skyline at all.

Montreal's much-vaunted "European-ness" can be a bit of a mirage. As many have pointed out, it's much more Philadelphia than Vienna in most ways.

Still... there is something there, and more often than not, it's not castles and wedding-cake blocks, but something more like Golf GTIs, tracksuit bottoms and those towers instead of Vancouver seafoam.

Our local "Griffintown" here could easily pass for Griffintown itself from some angles.

Where did you get that impression?!? I'm probably the harshest critic of Ottawa's skyline on this forum. While I'm excited for future developments in Ottawa and I track progress with my photography, I am by no means a lover of the current skyline, which I often refer to as a 'stumpline' or 'the great clump'.

Quebec's tallest actually reminds me alot of the patterned wallpaper thrills around the GTA today. Just replace the concrete (providing depth) with spandrel glass, aluminum and/or black and white colour blocking.

Black and white is a popular trend across Canada. A major design firm in Toronto has embraced it wholeheartly. Quebec's (older) black and white trend is distinct from The Greater Toronto Area, Southern Ontario, Alberta, etc.

^ Québec City's hill - cliffs - natural landscapes are making a huge difference in my opinion. Put all this on a pancake flat area and in my opinion it would be quite different.

Québec City's tallest building is at roughly 220 - 230m above sea level at its top.

^ i've never thought of that but it's very true,
That Stantec building in Edmonton looks a lot taller when viewed across the valley because of the increase of elevation from river floor when viewed from the South.

Quebec City has fallen out of my top ten for CMAs of Canada buildings skylines but it's still well ahead of Kitchener and maybe Halifax. Quebec city's scenic landscape looks captivating and great in it's self though.
Kelowna's skyline has likely taken the tenth spot in my top ten, just behind Niagara Falls and maybe London, Ontario.
