I wouldn't call them interruptions so much as large swathes of low-rise housing. The space between the skylines at Yonge & St. Clair, Yonge & Davisville and Yonge & Eglinton are equal in distance to the length of those skylines. Those could be filled in pretty easily, but the distance between Eglinton and the beginning of North York's skyline (at Yonge & Sheppard) is almost the same distance from the lake to Eglinton.

Yes, I agree there is a pretty huge gap on Yonge Street, between Yonge and Eglinton and Yonge and 401 (the beginning of the North York - Wilshire blvd style skyline)

The Toronto skyline has gaps but they aren't anywhere near as wide as the ones along Wilshire....not even close.

I was driving up the Escarpment near Milton and there is one spot where a view of Missisauga, N. York and the Downtown skyline can all easily be captured with the right lens and panorama capabilities. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera at the time.

It was a small road heading north up the Escarpment.

That's a different angle than the one we were discussing (the yonge street skyline) but still a fantastic pic! thanks man!

I took these from Nokia 3D Maps (which are really cool by the way):

I could see the skyline eventually filling in from the lake all the way to the Eglinton cluster, but linking that up with North York would be a monumental task.
