Speaking about the previous proposal by MAD, given how developers generally operate for residential, I really doubt Holborn would've gone with double-curvature glass as seen on MAD's Chaoyang Park in Plaza in Beijing had they proceeded with their design

even developers are really adamant going with single curvature glass with regards to cost

I remember once there were some inaccurate information about Trump Vancouver were posted and I provided new information recommended changes. His response was that I was 'being slanderous' and if I continue to 'pester' him (which I simply only updated with additional information about the project since I found out more info that would be even more accurate) he would 'refuse to change the information' even knowing it is completely inaccurate.

I understand that the project is a point of contention for many but it's just irresponsible journalism at that rate

Not really a rumour, but this one will be what I have been asking for all along: everything packaged into one development, and more! Thank you Holborn for being brave to push for this.

interesting how all these articles are coming out, over 1.5yrs after the video was posted on youtube. only when it was brought up here. hmmm. i guess journalists really don't do their jobs just lurk on forums to get their info. pretty much what i thought already.

Another rumor. Wall Financial has been actively looking to build another hotel/residential development in Vancouver.

That's why I take any of the new urban blogs with a grain of salt. More often than not they are less than accurate.

One thing I will give them credit for though is getting architecture and urban planning issues out into the mainstream.

Please send me a DM. I do not recall this happening and believe you've mistaken me with someone else. Cheers.

The last picture is the most recent, but it's only a teaser aerial "shot" from the other architect (not MAD as per the video).

There is quite a bit more information given here and I don't see it as an irresponsible article.

Not saying the article on the parking lot was irresponsible but just some previous incidents which were a bit concerning

I understand it's been three years and not trying to pick a fight or anything but just wanted to offer some constructive criticism with regards to articles and editing information and not meant to be a personal attack or whatnot.

I commented on your blog with a pseudonym called "John Doery" as well on your Facebook page as well but my account has since been terminated. Yes, I could have reworded some posts and not have called you a "discredited journalist", but it's frustrating to not have edits made after numerous comments back and forth agreeing to.

I was just a bit taken aback when you said

Well, I mean I posted all this a few pages back for reference

Maybe next time, I should just share all this with my other friends before posting it here

This is a "Rumour" Thread after all, so if you give the wrong info, no one should be holding that against you. Can't say the same for your other postings elsewhere though.

Well, Holborn would ideally like the Open House to be sometime this year, so it would be great if many people can go over to voice their support for this development, especially in areas such as the design height exceeding the Viewcones limit and underground connection to PC mall. Hope all these can become reality.

We have developers that are doing their part pitching for something different, but a lot of public support would also help tremendously. One good example was Vancouver House. Overwhelming public support for the project forced the City to accept the design wholesale without asking for a watered-down version.

What is the point of trying to discredit a guy on something that happened years ago over an isolated incident? Keeping screenshots to prove your sense of self worth about it, is unusual. As for the proposal, yes it was released on Youtube back in 2018 but it appears it was not publicized or captured by the popular blogs or the media. Either Holborn is pushing the proposal now which has caught the interest of blogs and media, or the blogs or media have finally caught onto the proposal after finding the Youtube video. Either way the project appears to be nothing more than a vision.

Yeah my understanding is that Holborn "thinned out" their team on this last year...

It's quite something to see how some renderings of an old design concept from years ago is put out in the media as though it's a brand new proposal, and nobody bothers to request comment from Holborn or the City?

The real news would be the City relaxing the view cones, which sadly they are not.

Spectacular proposal and one that stacks up well against developments in any other city on the world. It greatly enhances that area, adds much needed exciting large-scale expansion possibilities for that shopping area, maximizes the usage of 2 transit lines that are immediately adjacent to the project, will be a major draw for people all over the region, and most importantly provides the city with some desperately needed architectural diversity (not to mention provides the area with additional height to the boring largely tabletop downtown skyline).

So in other words, this has no chance of being approved, and we can look forward to the bland, dumbed down, uninspired Vancouver Special tower next design for this location with reduced parking and questionable, awkward, poorly functioning commercial component to the next design for this property.

We're a pessimistic lot, aren't we? Oh well, that's Vancouver for you. I bet if Holborn offers CAC to help tear down the viaducts, the current design height allowance and project scope would be allowed overnight. Quid pro quo.

Some fun news coming today. Nothing too tall but some news on what should be an exciting project.
