Actually, that design (as fuzzy and squint-inducing as it is) is unquestionably better than just about everything Lucien personally had his hands in in terms of his firm's 'contributions' to Chicago's cityscape. I'd much rather have that 9 story building in place of the Waldorf Astoria, for example - or 10 E Delaware, or that absurdity on N Lakeview in Lincoln Park, etc etc.

BTW has anyone seen renderings or elevations for 850 W. Washington? It's appeared in a number of the neighborhood massing diagrams in these presentations. I need to add it to my model.

The massing models inadvertently leak several upcoming developments, such as 1152 W Carroll and 345 N Aberdeen (which was just bought by Sterling Bay)
^ Yeah...the more I look at it, the more I agree. This has got to be another casualty of the Fulton Market design review. Otherwise, the default you'd be likely to see here would be some type(s) of nice glass treatment all the way to sidewalk.
