Its a great angle.

You can see things 'pulled apart' a bit better than in most, giving a better idea of the distances between areas that often look like they are built on top of each other.

Besides, the city just looks crisp and you can see the contrast that happens where the old small scale neighbourhoods (on the west) bump up against the downtown towers.

Lago is such a clunker. It's podium is even worse.

Beautiful shot though.

Hopefully weather will be good on Remembrance Day long weekend when I take the ferry to Nanaimo and will have the chance to shoot this very same view.

Btw, happy to be living on the highest apartment you can see in this shot.

If Mt. Baker really did loom like that (which of course, it does not, speaking from the perspective of someone who spent 5 years living in Vancouver and Richmond), like Vesuvius and Pompeii, there would be no hope for the city if the volcano blew its stack like Mt St. Helens did in the eighties.

I recall long ago, sometime in the early 90s, Mayor Lastman was in the local Edmonton news for a comment he made, I think it was in reference to a question about unfavorable property taxes in North York versus Edmonton, in which he said "comparing Edmonton to North York is like comparing an outhouse to a palace." Obviously Edmontonians weren't happy. Our Mayor invited Lastman to town where he was given a tour and then he apologized at city hall before receiving a ceremonial boot in the backside.

Mount Garibaldi is closer to Vancouver, and it's a potentially active stratovolcano.

I know. It's so bulky; the podium is a spandrel glass mess; the black and white stripes are garish.

I was commenting on the the large marquee for the Parkside Student Residence on the corner of Carlton and Jarvis in post #1885. Parkside is a common name. There's probably several dozen developments across the GTA with that name. Lot of parks out there.

Mybad, didn't realize Parkside was so popular amongst developers
