Slowly is right. That conversion work came to a halt once the traffic lights were installed, and now they're saying it won't happen until the end of the summer. I'd tell you that's because priority is going to the gaping potholes and metal plates everywhere else in the city, but you'd know I was lying, because the crumbling third-world mess of a road infrastructure we have here is
never going to be fixed. Keep your tire shop on speed dial.
Off my soapbox. The Midtown QuikTrip is all lit up and has an official open date (it's next Thursday). In Vinings, the new Riverwood office tower is nearly topped out, and the Encore Center tower has started. One apartment project on Cumberland is complete, another is nearing completion, and another is just getting started--and all of that is in addition to the developments on the stadium grounds. That area sure is growing in a hurry, and the new rents are hovering around $2/sf, which seems crazy until you realize Atlanta proper is pushing $3/sf these days. The times we live in...
