Regardless of what anyone thinks of Kirkor's designs (I like most of them, though they're not super flashy), they know what they're doing.

They push out a lot of projects and seem to have an established client base.

All your questions are valid and some of them have been touched upon and discussed in this thread and others. Does it mean that a discussion on a postcard that they themselves (Skycity) produced and propagated is not worth discussing? Perhaps in your opinion, but obviously others here are certainly entertaining it. If it doesn't interest you ignore it. Chime in whenever you want to be part of any discussion. But don't stop others implicitly when their discussions don't interest you.

This project will likely be approved on appeal. Community Committees tend to side with the local NIMBYs, but Council as a whole will likely see the merits of the project. The WFP noted today that 3 residents spoke against the proposal saying it was too large. The other complaint being that several mature trees will have to be cut down.

Incidentally, I'm not sure why Broadbeck singles out Orlikow for all the blame. There are three Councilors on that Community Committee, so he was not the only only one opposed. But what do you expect? He's expressing the NIMBY sentiments of his constituents. It will pass on appeal.

There is a popular (and very plausible) theory which has it that a councillor facing a touchy issue in his or her ward can marshal the support of the other committee members in exchange for offering support on touchy issues in the wards of other councillors on the committee in the future. Sort of a NIMBY quid pro quo.

What a crock.. Ventura got railroaded in a similar fashion out in Stonewall. Development approved by outgoing CAO. incoming CAO squashed the deal.

They're going after the Chinese Investor who is facing pushback in Vancouver and Toronto and has no options in a shitty Calgary market.

These units are advertised to those renting out (if they even do that), I think.
