I'm assuming the 'it's" is referring to the museum a few miles south of dtla.

In comparison, this is going to be more controversial....

the museum in your pics is a reference point for these ppl, I believe from the midwest. I just zipped through the vid & listened to mainly the first few minutes.

The other museum, however, will have the advantage of being connected to heavy rail, while the museum in Expo park is reached by the light rail that regrettably stops at traffic lights.....I rode it awhile ago & wasn't happy it was slowed down by cars.

KPC Development's Kali Chaudhuri and Cityview's Sean Burton with Oceanwide Plaza (KPC Health, Cityview, Getty)

Southern California hospital operator and hotelier Dr. Kali P. Chaudhuri’s KPC Development is looking to join with Lendlease in a bid for downtown Los Angeles’ stalled, mega-development Oceanwide Plaza, federal bankruptcy court documents reveal — but things are far from over.

KPC would join Lendlease, one-time general contractor for the project, in a credit bid of $470 million.

There is a bigger and all-cash offer on the table: a partnership between an overseas investor and Cityview
, helmed by Sean Burton, according to a person familiar with the matter.

KPC and Lendlease could bid their debt, but they still need money to move it. Chaudhuri has been shopping construction loans but hasn’t found a taker, the source said.

One Beverly must be pretty far along now if it really is U/C. Anyone have any pics and or is there a construction cam?

Crazy that project costs 10B, LA could build the world's tallest building for that.

It's a phased project, and they said the resi towers will open in 2027, with the hotel in 2028, so the towers must be far along, but I can't see it from the 10 freeway yet...

Locals flocked to Cole’s French Dip iconic landmark restaurant in Los Angeles to wait in line for an hour to get seated in July 2025. Gina Ferazzi/Los Angeles Times via Getty Imag

The story of Cole’s French Dip over the past eight months has had more twists and turns than an episode of a daytime soap opera. In July 2025, the 117-year-old Downtown Los Angeles restaurant...announced that it would close its doors for good in early August. Yet now it’s more than half a year later, and the closure has simply never happened.

Spurred on by the last big boost in business (which is common for closing restaurants), owner Cedd Moses of hospitality group Pouring With Heart pushed back the closure to mid-September. Then the company pushed it back again until Nov. 1, and again to Dec. 31, announcing a last New Year’s Eve blowout fit for a grand finale.

Then that changed, too, and the company promised to keep pushing sandwiches and cocktails through the end of January. And now, as of early March, the restaurant is still operating at normal hours.

According to co-owner Mark Verge, Cole’s is still going away — at least in its current form, under Pouring With Heart’s stewardship. The 6th Street restaurant is slated to cease operations on March 29 to make way for a new buyer to take it over, which has long been the hope for fans and current ownership. And that new buyer just might be another LA sandwich legend.

“LA saved us,” Verge tells SFGATE of the continued support Cole’s has gotten over the past several months. “We have so many offers from people who want to buy it. We all want the same thing.”

According to Verge, some of the potential buyers include sandwich icon Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica (his top choice to take the reins), legendary beach volleyball player Sinjin Smith and chef Jeremy Fall, who previously ran a slew of concepts around Los Angeles but has been working out of New York City as of late.

Glad to know they're still hanging on, and will eventually have a new owner.

I wonder when we'll see core / steel.

Is there a thread for these towers?

My guess is for more hospital-related space? Maybe doctor's offices and outpatient services?

Incidentally, I've never been to the Beverly Connection, in all those years I used to go to the Beverly Center, I never thought to go across the street to it.

I was over there this afternoon and walked the southern perimeter fence (they've got it pretty covered up). From what I could tell it doesn't look much different than the aerial that Craigs posted from a few weeks ago. There are some rebar cages for columns sticking up above street level, but it will be at least a month if not more for anything to be visible from SM or Wilshire. I will post pics later this weekend.

I know this area was hit pretty hard during the 2020 looting, and I wonder if the current state is fallout from that time, or if something else is going on.
I haven't been to the Promenade in a while either. In fact I don't even remember the last time I was there; it might've even been during the height of the pandemic.

I miss the old Fairfax---back when it had a lot of Jewish businesses with bakeries, bookstores, and a very old, dark pizza place that was open 24/7. Then those businesses left and it seemed like it was all about streetwear. WTF. And of course isn't streetwear now dead? Or at least that demographic grew up, and those streetwear businesses have left. I'm hoping Fairfax evolves into something less fad-oriented.

The Promenade needs to evolve too.

Like the new Centro design. Intresting to see if that ever goes forward. Not holding my breath. But would be amazing to see that go forward.
