Black star probably couldn't even define what it means to be a liberal or a socialist, he's just been groomed to hate them, cause, berta!
Maybe if a fella didn't know, he could do a quicky (GOOGLE) search and find out Genius lol.

You're an easy one to confuse on such an easy concept lol. Maybe stop posting online for awhile and take the next couple of dance cards off? You're not doing to well lol.

Two separate issues. The City of Edmonton has no jurisdiction over the other municipalities in our region. If the provincial government had any backbone there would have been amalgamation years ago. You're the one who's twisted.

That's sad ass, and a pretty telling story that you need to use google for those two simple words and their definition.

Is it typical for conservatives-hicks like yourself to project so much of yourself on to others?

Just letting you guys know that a flag has been raised (for general uncivil behavior, let’s say) for this thread, I’ve always preferred light moderation and don’t see anything here that’s too extreme, but it’s Xelebes’ turf and back yard, I suggest letting him decide

You're confused again. I didn't have to Google...you do lol. And when I say Google, I mean dig down and use your mind thingy. If you can't make any sense. Just raise the white flag Mate.

"Is it typical for conservatives-hicks like yourself"..Woah woah...you mean like most people in Alberta? You might want to move to a more warmer liberal climate lol.

Public transit systems work in much more demanding places all over the world; how is this system not more robust? Granted, some parts of the system probably experience far more messed use per/capita/day, but still, these should be drawing from places facing those kinds of demands.

I never really understood the use of automatic doors on those small shelters though. You could still provide accessible access for 1 or 2 on each end to ensure safe use for those with those requirements, but to put them on all of them seems like a poor choice.

Valley Line shelters give riders cold shoulder
By Ashley Lavallee-Koenig

Passengers on Edmonton’s months-old $1.8 billion Valley Line LRT system have not been able to use many of the heated and accessible shelters at stations, features that have “never worked properly from day one,” according to one observer.

That same rider posted that the issue becomes increasingly unacceptable during extreme weather, such as the cold snap in mid-January. “And now, at -30, it’s particularly ridiculous,” they wrote on Jan. 11 when temperatures hit 50-year lows.

Ryan Birch, Edmonton Transit Service’s director of operations, said those responsible for fixing the shelters recognize the challenges. “TransEd is aware of the issues regarding shelter doors and heaters at some Valley Line Southeast stops, and their maintenance staff continue to conduct repairs as quickly as possible,” Birch told Taproot. “It is believed that most of the issues are the result of vandalism.”

Under the public-private partnership between TransEd and government partners that include the city, TransEd will operate and maintain the southeast portion of the Valley Line until 2050.

Birch said heater and door controls have had “protective covers and other components (that) were removed by members of the public.” Additionally, some sliding doors at shelters were pushed or pulled off their tracks.

TransEd began testing the shelter issues in November. During this testing, they found malfunctioning heaters as well. The heaters have been fixed but the door issues persist. “While most operational issues were addressed (in November), TransEd staff continue to respond to vandalism incidents as they occur,” Birch said. “Should these issues continue, TransEd and the city will collaborate on a long-term solution.”

^ TransEd Partners is composed of Bechtel, EllisDon, Alstom, and Fengate Capital Management Ltd., together with the added expertise of Arup Canada and IBI Group—each world leading experts in design, engineering, construction, transportation solutions, project management and finance.

You would think with all this expertise something like the above mentioned door issue would not happen.

You're in Edmonton. We voted NDP. Seems pretty liberal to me here. Maybe you need to calm down and give your self a reality check, your more at home in trochu, alberta than Edmonton. Go be with your hyuk hyuk hyuk's. and the F Trudeau stickers, mate.

"Most people in Alberta" Good lord you are a confused little man.

Popular vote UCP 928,896 NDP 777,397

"most"

just a bit over half maybe, and that's with under 60% of the population voting.

So there will be a utility building at 105 St and 102 Ave ANNNND 107 St and 103 ave?? Why so close? I will admit that I am not an engineer or designer of these highly complicated mass transit systems but I can't recall this many utility buildings so close together on the SE line.

Are they both traction power stations?

Where is the last one on the SE leg? Once it's all tied together the demand on the Downtown section might increase. Could also be a size restriction either in electrical service available or land.
But there are two in Strathearn, one at Connors and one at 86st. 7 blocks apart, I assumed that was to deal with climbing up connors hill.

Ahh, they just needed land from the YMCA for the ROW. Well, that will be a piece of land that will come up for sale in the near future.

Ah ok.

For some reason I recall a building there from initial plans.

Thanks for clarifying.

That piece of land would be great for a basketball court!

We don't need no building!
Just put in a basketball court and a pickleball court on the same land once the LRT construction is completed.
