I'm excited to read that report he mentions... and for that potential announcement! His vision and approach to urban design in Winnipeg really resonate with me.
I really like the idea of honing in on districts, focusing on new infrastructure and public amenities to attract more development. This paired with proper rapid transit investments and updates to zoning laws would help attract new development without doing a crazy mega scheme. Not wildly expensive, not reinventing the wheel.
These districts could all be designed to emphasize the value and existing identity of downtown's smaller areas. If done right, it could help create a diverse range of smaller area-identity's throughout downtown, yet still tied into the larger picture of Downtown.
There is so much untapped potential here. We just need leadership and vision, something I very much see in Glen.
I will certainly be voting Murray if he throws his hat in.
