The CFL hasnt always been this popular, but it has always been one of the biggest sports in the nation for fanbase and the Grey Cup has always drawn millions of viewers even in the worst years
So drop the quota then. Affirmative action is affirmative action.

Bills made 9.7 million

Argos have lost money for the past 5 years.

What are you so afraid of? If the CFL is strong it will still be here. The CFL is for a record contract from the TSN family.
Rogers lost money

That's all I need to know

And I'm not afraid of the NFL, I don't have to be

It's not coming to Canada any time soon

And you are right the CFL TV contract should be much improved next time around

The point is the team made money, rogers entered a venture and lost, but they don't own the team

the biggest mistake the argos made was staying at skydome and not building bmo field at york university when they had the chance.

The 100th Grey Cup in 2012 was awarded to Toronto by our national football league so hopefully Canada's league can regain its once lofty place in our biggest city.

Keep the NFL 100% American.

They flubbed that hard and Ford will not build them a stadium too. From what I hear Braley has no interest in a new stadium

You just said Toronto does not deserve the Argos. I said the Argos do no make money. What's with the change in opinion?

Plus the Grey Cup was here already a couple of years ago and it didn't change anything.

They don't deserve the Argos, but one has to try.

The CFL is not a "farm league" of the NFL. Different rules, different game. (I like the CFL better anyways)

The NFL has about as much of a chance of coming to Toronto as Winnipeg does of getting an NHL team.

Toronto deserves the Argos just as much as any city deserves their team, if not more.

Great. That's the main thing I always hear. "The rules are different." The AHL rules are not entirely similar either, you have to wear some sort of a mask in there for starters.

Winnipeg will get a team very soon if not next year. As for the NFL, anything can happen, but no right now because Toronto does not have a proper stadium.

If they did attendance would show that. isaidso is right.

This is the biggest thing that makes my blood boil.
Toronto is the biggest city in Canada, has the most professional sports teams in Canada, and is the home to not only one of the oldest professional sports franchises in NA but is the birthplace of football itself.
Saying Toronto doesn't deserve the Argos is like saying Montreal doesn't deserve the Habs or St. Andrews doesn't deserve a golf course.

If the Argos played in a stadium the size of Molson or Taylor Field they would fill it, or come very close.
Do the Lions fill BC Place? No. But nobody is saying they don't deserve their team, without even using the fact that the Lions are irrelevant to the history of the league and the game.
Just another excuse for Toronto bashing.

No cfl team is irelevant to the league's history the lions gave us the 94 grey cup classic with Lui's last second field goal in the first Canada U.S. Grey Cup and Swervin Mervyn Fernandez and Geroy Simon. However the lions on average draw decent crowds at b.c. place in the 32,000 range a game. I beleive even at rogers centre if the argos have a good club they can do that to. Remember just in 2007 the argos averaged more than 30,000 a game so it's possible. The problem with rogers centre is the argos get no concession revenues or parking revenues it goes to rogers and the blue jays which is bull shit.

It's all the more painful and appalling because of that history you mention. Montreal idolizes the Habs while St. Andrews is a global golf shrine. Toronto should be beaming with pride over that team but treats the Argos like a pile of shit. They behave like the Argos are an embarrasment to be hidden from sight.

The Argos must be restored to their former glory, they just must.

The origins of football in Toronto (and Montreal) are well documented. Montrealers should be proud of their massive cultural contribution too. Football is not a sport Canada imported.

First documented football game was played at the University of Toronto on the present site of University College (400 yards west of Queen's Park) on November 9. One of the participants in the game involving University of Toronto students was (Sir) William Mulock, later it's Chancellor.

Canadian Rules football. Yes.

The origins of American rules football aren't as well documented but might have occurred earlier.

I agree they should be treated better, and a different stadium may be the thing to do it. I mean, look at the Als with the big owe.. they started drawing better crowds when they left it because it had no atmosphere. If BMO was expanded and the Argos played there I have no doubts they would draw better.
That and this year they had just come out of a 2 year last place performance, so many people may have been hesitant to go watch them get clobbered, that's never fun.

I agree. I am hopeful.

Twas rugby. Football entered the United States after McGill University challenged Harvard University to a game in 1874.
