Yes, FCP should look really sharp when this is all finished in a few years. Also, somebody needs to change the thread title, because FCP is 35 years old, not 30...

Indeed, the SEP clears the facade only by about 3" while riding along the existing window washer tracks. After it is moved, it is then again tied into the building via struts that project into an existing 5'X10' steel plate found behind the marble. It is hung on cables 10' o.c. and operated via remotely operated winch motors which are installed on the roof.

holy shit!!!!!!

this scafoldding has been at the top of the tower for over a month, end of May I guess... and it hasn't even moved down an inch.

How long are they gonna take at each stage before they move down to the next change.. if they go at this rate it will take them 4 years to re-clad the entire building

I had a dream ( or maybe an INCEPTION) that the scaffolding moved down one level exposing some of the finished glass...
But there was a catch.

It was covered in Protective plastic, so even though the scaffolding elevator had moved down.. we were still being teased.

they finally lowered one section of the forms.....

no pics, and still might not be enough for us to see the updated cladding. So another 4 month wait ahead here then.

Well if it's started moving, then it stands to reason (according to their video) it should be only next week before it moves again. Wasn't it a floor a week?

^Not exactly...

According to the video, the suspended platform is three levels high. The top level is for placing the new glass cladding. The middle is for anchoring to the building and the lower floor is for marble removal, insulation removal, old bracket removal and new bracket installing.

So once it gets going the lowest floor takes the longest work, then it moves down a level and that one it just finished remains unfinished until the platform lowers another level and then the top floor of the platform has now reached that initial level and glass can be installed.

Over at UT dt_toronto_geek posted an image of the lowered platform from far away and I could just make out a faint edge of new glass... Then nicetommy posted an amazing comparison shot.
