Trump or the RE-CLad

Actually nevermind, they are both taking forever. For some reason.

I can't imagine why any company would spend $100 million to make a building look just like it did 35 years ago, especially since it wasn't exactly an architectural marvel when it was first built.

A lot of it is safety reasons... in the winter, chunks of marble were falling off the building... A HUGE safety issue for the pedestrians below...

And trust me, you can already see the building looks EVEN BETTER than new. the glass + dark corners add a whole new look.

I don't like the dark looking corners at all for some reason.

Wish they would have just matched it all.

From what I remember, aren't they also making the roofline more modern? Its more than a simple re-clad and the black corners remind me of an inverted international style like Tour de la Bourse.

Good to see Toronto improving the skyline while growing.

Hey freaks,

If the weather isn't too bad I should have the opportunity to go up the scaffolds in the 2nd week of January, I'll post some photos.

i don't like the black corners, at all. it just looks too 80's! but the white part looks awesome!

unfortunately i can't say anything positive about trump. i know it's not the correct thread but it's not even 10% of what i originally expected

The facade replacement as part of the greater rejuvenation isn't anywhere near the $100 million mark. Despite what you think, the building is a landmark and to have it entirely changed into something totally unrecognizable is just plain ignorance when it comes to heritage.

I think it’s refreshing that they are keeping the identity of the building intact versus slapping on some bland green glass wall. This is something I wish New York would embrace more with its recladding projects.

Not much they can do with it anyway. Half the facade is taken up by the tube structure. They couldn't do floor to ceiling windows even if they wanted to.
