nice to see more downtown projects kicking off. It feels like eons since we had lots of buildings to watch, now they're so few and far in between.

It'll be interesting to see how 1045 Burnaby departs from the rendering, and what it ends up looking like.

It's interesting to see the steady pace of infill project coming along for the West End. I suspect that this will trend up in the coming years, both because the easy redevelopment sites are long gone, and because smaller-scale infill projects have a lower bar to clear for financing.

I was wondering how Marcon was involved being the contact for the permmit. Mystery solved.

Quote:
On November 20, Marcon and Fiera Real Estate celebrated a major milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction at 1045 Burnaby Street.

Located in Downtown Vancouver, one of the city’s most diverse and vibrant neighborhoods, this project will deliver 170 units of much-needed rental housing, including affordable homes, to serve the community for decades to come. The site, previously under strata ownership, will be redeveloped into purpose-built rental housing, reflecting a commitment to addressing Vancouver’s housing needs.

1045 Burnaby marks the first collaboration between Marcon and Fiera Real Estate; a partnership built on shared vision and expertise to deliver housing that meets the evolving needs of the community.

Mt Pleasant also has LED banners, it's a picture of the "iconic" clock. Big upgrade compared to the previous style. I wonder if they are year round?

Year round

As part of an initiative to enhance the streetscape in Mount Pleasant, the local Business Improvement Association (BIA) envisioned a permanent illuminated installation to replace traditional cloth banners. The aim was to create a dynamic and culturally meaningful visual identity, something distinctive to the neighborhood that would enrich the public space and strengthen the BIA’s visibility.

That is nit picking. Also, cold white seems to be more appropriate for snowflakes.

Thx. I disagree, cold led lighting isn’t festival feeling. So many Xmas lights now are cold ugly shit that looks like something a robot threw up.

Yep, cold LEDs are totally overused in general. Most electric light is used at night, when are brains are more accustomed to warm light.

Remember when LED lights first came out - they were all blue.
The blue / cool colour must be cheaper to manufacture.

Agreed that a whiter light would be cheerier.

All "white" LED's are actually blue LED's with fluorescent material that gives off the white light.

There's only a few down there as they are competing for lamp post space with the BC Lions and Whutecaos banners.
