The current phase has the corridors to the old mall - everything else is on the periphery.

That said, both ends of the old mall are going to be demolished and rebuilt.

Almost assuredly just a license agreement. Harrods would never operate a unit like that, it would be too much work for too little sales.

Honestly, given the shopper profile, your sarcasam is not entirely incorrect.

While there is opportunity for aspirational brands in the burbs true Lux is very unlikely at this time in Vancouver. It's just now starting in Toronto, a city twice the size of Van and with much more wealth in its suburbs.

yeah the harrods was really small, not big at all. I think it only lasted a year or something. It was in terminal 3 when it was the shiny impressive new airport.

Sponge, you have clearly been skipping on these threads. Both videos have been posted before, but they are sweet, so no harm done.

Not terribly surprising. Most of Sears parking areas have been taken over by construction so people may avoid the store simply because of the parking situation. I remember back in the golden days of circa 2005, the parking lots in front of Sears used to be completely packed around 7-8 am on Saturday/Sundays because they used to open early and give free goodies, coffee, and coupons to the first 200-300 people through the front doors.

People avoid Sears pretty much everywhere nowadays. It's not specific to Brentwood.

Could these developers and marketers be any more out of touch with reality. Every car in that video is a Benz, BMW, Mclaren, Lambo or Range Rover. Also love how it says "Seamless Connection to Skytrain". I don't see an overhead walkway to the station at all.

Here is a picture of the "Seamless Connection to Skytrain", on the right. This is looking north from the station concourse. You can also see it at about the 27 second mark of the video.

Construction is picking up steam. Great to see the first couple of floors of Tower 1 are visible. If they can get on a 4 floor a month pace the tower should be almost complete by the end of the year/early next year.

I think this development will be successful given that upwards of 5000 to 8000 people will be moving into the area in the next five to six years. Almost 60% of all proposed high-rises in Burnaby are in Brentwood. Indeed, roughly 55-60 of the just over 100 condos planned are in this sector. Moreover, the fact they are making it an entertainment district with 30 restaurants and a plaza to host events adds to its viability. It will be a destination. As I mentioned before I purchased in the area because of the development at Brentwood, Solo, and the future Gilmore Place. There will be a lot going on in the area in five years.

Burnaby in general and Brentwood or Metro Town in particular need a variety of high quality night/dance club entertainment.

With Oakridge sizzling into nothing, Brentwood becomes the next masterplanned community which is livable and centrally connected to other communities. As more people are willing to live here, then naturally better things will come including better night life for young people. It already has Brown social club, Cactus club. But then at the back of my mind is safety and security concerns.

I have mixed feelings about that. I bought here because I would not have to deal with the noise and shenanigans you would find on Granville St./Gastown 15 minutes away.

I was hoping that my effort at making the distinction of "HIGH QUALITY" night life might prove to be the critical difference on my wish list.

Kinda curious what "High Quality" night life would consist of? and if you think that would someone eliminate loud obnoxious idiots from telling everyone at 3am when they leave that it's their bday, as if the people living within earshot could care.

I thought people who move to busy areas and then complain about noise and bright lights are idiot NIMBYs...

the bars at the W hotels are usually pretty nice, relaxed, doesn't attract the rowdy crowd probably cause the prices are a little higher. That's one way to eliminate some of the noisy types, higher prices deter the younger crowd.

The casino provides a lot of nightlife for the area, it has a dance area, live music, a sports bar and a lounge etc. on the weekend its like a meet market
