I actual enjoy the look of The Milner building as it is now, and if I remember correctly they always have very nice flowers out in front of it in the summer.
Atco could also always build a large new space across 104 st (east side) on that nasty parkade/parking lot.

For those that don't know this project, the Costco superstore, and its underground parking, are all below grade at this elevation.

I say this as I've heard it mentioned that the DT Edm superstore was supposed to have a separate, partially above-grade parking structure, unless I've been led astray.

If Edmonton could force the Superstore and its parking completely UG, then "super". Otherwise, don't try defending it.

That would look great downtown. Below grade parking indeed would be a plus too.

Maybe, but the asbestos would still need to go, and if they funnel their existing tenants to other spaces (which might be hard to do however) it would actually be a pretty straightworward retrofit. They'd peel the roof right off the mechanical penthouse and drop new euqipment in, the big old boilers in the basement and all the pipework would be cut up and modular equipment would be pretty easy to install... right now the building is zoned in quadrants which makes it really uncomfortable in different areas, at different times of the day, I suspect they'd go with a variable air volume system to replace all the radiant heating & cooling... pretty cost effective actually.

I do hope they do a better job on the outside than they did on the Devonian, I might add.

You definitely sound like you have your finger on the pulse here. Isn't Milner already 100% tenanted by ATCO?

So, it seems you have some dirt on the Devonian. Dish dish!

You're right it could be a very nice looking building, To me though it looks dated and dirty. It would be nice if they could keep and clean up the architecture while updating the glass and trim.

No there's a few other tenants in there as well... the last time I was in there one of the upper floors was getting a "facelift" but the building is mostly all original except for the late-80's R-11 chiller upstairs. A year ago Atco was running the building but I think that changed. (I'm a project manager for a mechanical contracting co. so I get to see lots of neat stuff!)

Sorry, I don't have any dirt on the Devonian, asside for being fairly disgusted with what they're trying to accomplish there... Maybe the proposed tower that Coldrsx mentionned that is supposed to go right next to it will change my view but I'm not holding my breath!

If the Pittsburgh Penguins can't find a deal in Pennsylvania to play, look for Kansas City to be a front-runner...especially after they built this new arena.

They also mentioned Winnipeg, Houston and Las Vegas as places to move as well.

Icon poured 1/4-1/3 of the main floor today.

Bay north 4th floor has really nice curtain wall...and all the glass got delivered it seems.

Is the 3rd floor south elevation of the Bay still that weird aluminum decking? I keep hoping that it will eventually be covered up with something less...Boston Pizza-ish. The BP's on 118th ave. & 124th st. has the same detail and...well, it's ok for a BP's.

man, that is a nice arena. Good for KC. with this arena if the penguins move it will not be hard to attract them.

I'd love to see that in DT Edmonton.

So, all ye Edmonton forumers. A few of you (such as Cold) already know this but I will be back up in the hometown to visit family this weekend. I will probably get in sometime mid-afternoon, after which will be a drive down to the UofA (where I will be staying), and then a free night after that. Since I can't be in Calgary for our own meet tomorrow, it would be great to meet some of you. I promised Cold that I would PM him when I get in town, but it's always good to give a heads up.
